Been using the SW150 for a couple of months. I have been a big fan of M&K subs, but since i moved from a big house to a small apartment, due to size and power (complaining neighbors), MK is a big no no. A friend of mine suggested wharfedale SW150 and the first time i auditioned the sub, i fell in love with it. SW150 is definitely a bang for the buck. Who would have thought that a bass that loud and deep is coming from a compact box. Aesthetic is a 10 as well, simple and classy. (Neighbors still complaining about the rattling noise.. hehe)

Wharfedale SW150

The Wharfedale SW150 features 10 inches of bass, 150 WRMS amplified power, 10 ohms input impedance, 35 Hz to 110 Hz frequency response, 107 dB maximum SPL, 35-85 Hz low pass filter range, 0-180 degrees phase switch, filter bypass switch, line and high level inputs and reflex ported.

Features

The Wharfedale SW150 features ‘Tri-Lam’ microprocessor technology which driver is able to deliver bass with low distortion. ‘Tri-Lam’ cone uses a combination of carbon fibre and glass fibre which allows low energy losses and eliminate the ‘muddy’ delays associated with lesser cone materials. It is said that it offers a powerful response with excellent control. This subwoofer comes reflex-ported which needs a less powerful amplifier. The Wharfedale SW150 offers Class AB amplifier which provides low distortion, a lot of headroom and a high internal electrical damping factor that gives control accuracy to the speaker. The class AB amplifier topology is said to have enough power to satisfy the most demanding systems and soundtracks. The Wharfedale SW150 uses the 24 dB per octave filter slopes ensure clean integration with full range systems in a wide range of applications to minimize frequency overlap. Low-pass frequencies are adjustable across six settings in 10 Hz steps from 35-85 Hz. This subwoofer is able to switch all filters off and control its signal with A/V processor controls manually on the rear of the unit. The Wharfedale SW150 uses manual controls and features a downward firing port which is said to maximize efficiency.

Additional features

The Wharfedale SW150 offers 0-180 degree phase switch, filter bypass switch and line and high level inputs. This subwoofer is recommended for partnering with Wharfedale Diamond 9 series loudspeaker systems. It is measured at (H x W x D ) 13 x 13 x 14.5 inches. In addition to this, the subwoofer was awarded ‘Product of the Year’ from What Hi-Fi? Magazine.
