Summary: I picked one of these up at a local retailer and all I can say is wow. I've always been a serious audiophile on a limited budget and after hearing this sub I had to lay down the extra money. I'm currently running all paradigms and had a DSP3200 complementing them. That in itself was a great sub. I was able to run this sub side by side with my 3200 and could not believe the difference. If you are serious about audio this is a great sub to have.
Summary: Just bought this thing after having given it a lot of thought. Why? Because I have this beast in my corporate office under my desk, that's why. Yes, I work on weekends and after hours, so I can let my hair down with this thing. The clincher is the remote control for the volume and the presets. Not many other subs in this range have it. In general, it has way more potential than what I use it for, but it does the trick.
Summary: Great sub! It is replacing a Aperion 10D and a Sunfire. After a week of break-in period it now sounds better than both of the others. The remote is very handy to adjust from your sofa. The sub is more accurate but has the dynamic power power to really pump it out when there is a movie effect. The Velodyne reps said this model sub is for audiophiles as well as the casual movie watcher and it's true. It handles both jobs really well.
Summary: This 12" sub-woofer is by far the best sub-woofer you can possibly have. The base reproduction near the low frequency extreme (~22Hz) is handled really well without distortion. Self-tuning is a nice feature which comes with it.
Summary: If you love base and are serious about your surround sound, the Velodyne Optimum 12 Subwoofer is for you! It's awesome! It really makes you jump out of your seat every time a building blows up in a movie and makes you want to dance to the latest hip hop songs... highly recommended!
