Velodyne MiniVee Subwoofer Review

Audioholics
1 February 2011
  • Conclusion: Based on my time with the MiniVee, I declare Velodyne the king of bass per square inch.  Not only did the MiniVee simply deliver more output and extension than I could have hoped for from such a small box, but it delivered rich quality bass that never sounded muddy.  The only minor criticism I have of the MiniVee is the premature rolloff I measured above 70Hz.
  • Pros: Unimaginably great bass from such a small box, No rattles or audible strain even at max output levels, Unobtrusive easy to hide cabinet
  • Cons: Premature high frequency rolloff above 70Hz, No speaker level outputs, No remote control, pricey

  • Excerpt: The Velodyne MiniVee 8 is a hard-hitting subwoofer that will round out any man’s home theater. Built with an 8″ woofer made of Kevlar, mounted to a diec-ast aluminum basket and powered by 1000 watts of amplification, the MiniVee 8 emits exceptionally tight, deep and resonant bass that will turn any movie or song into a full-on experience. The Dynamic Driver Control System ensures linear sound and the MiniVee 8’s output level can be controlled through its remote control.
