Summary: The output for this unit is absolutely phenomenal. The dimensions of this sub is very small but it will rattle a few things. In fact, I have two units, one connected to a Denon 2112 CI and the other connected to a Pioneer Elite VSX-51. I use Monster cables on both with AudioQuest rca splitters. The clarity and quality will not disappoint -- at all. I would only recommend for medium and small rooms. For large spaces, you may want to go larger, but don't have to.
Summary: I bought this because I did not have the space in the room I wanted it for a bigger box. It has a nice sound, but its volume is a little on the feeble side. I had to trim my mains by 10db to get the kind of balance I wanted. As with all subs placement is critical, and I was somewhat limited in placement options but finally got it in the best possible spot....
Summary: This sub is exactly as expected. It will give you a good bottom end to round out your 5.1 system. I can clearly hear the base guitar, and base sax tones perfectly. Works outstanding when listening to techno dance. My room is irregular and 15 x 29 in size. I adjusted it to blend in with my large front speakers. My system is medium size and the receiver only pumps out 100 watts. My front speakers have a 8" woofer, 8" driver, 3" mid, 1" tweeter.
Summary: I have this sub attached to a Denon AVR-1610, along with a pair of BIC DV62 F/L and a BIC Center speaker, and it sounds great whether you're using it for movies or music (for rap music, it sounds awful no matter how much you adjust, but I don't listen to it anyways, so it's no bother to me as I was just testing all forms of music on it....
Summary: I bought this to enhance the sound of the ceiling speakers in my 3 season room. I wanted something small that would fit under a table or love seat so my choices were limited. I first tried the Yamaha FSW-050. The size was perfect but the love affair ended there. It was very boxy sounding and had no adjustable crossover. I could not get it sounding to my liking so I decided to return it and purchase the Velodyne Impact-Mini.
Summary: I just bought a house and had a room with surround speakers built into the ceiling, but needed left and right speakers and a good sub to go with my TV. Ended up purchasing a pair of the Orb Audio MOD1 speakers (two thumbs up there as well) along with this subwoofer. Not sure if a center channel would be justified as the speakers are sitting on a 48" tv stand (not a lot of separation). This sub is very well made and I am pleased with the bass that it puts out.
Summary: Velodyne ImpactMini Powered Subwoofer - Small (Black) My Infinity BU-80 finally died. I had it running with my M-Audio BX5a's (love those little guys)! Costco had the Energy 8HG for $99. Tested it this morning - clipped on almost everything. It was pretty good with mid level music (jazz, classical and the like) if you kept the volume low to mid. I listen to everything and record my own songs.
Summary: Just place the order with the coupon code WS901X5757 and the savings are great. I know this is not a $1000. sub but it is a Velodyne and I know it will be a killer sub at this price. How do these guys a electronic expo do it ! The code also works with other audio items. Check them out, total was $219 shipped !
Summary: After waiting for all of the Christmas hoopla to subside and get used to my new Denon AVR-4810ci, I hunkered down to find a great subwoofer that would fit in a small space in my living room. I considered a slew of subs from Rel to Paradigm and almost everything in between. Finally, after exhaustive research over the New Year's holiday, I wound up back where I started, with Velodyne.
