Summary: The 20 word short and sweet: I don't always buy sub's, but when I do, its a Velodyne. I have a very large room (30X40) so I new I needed at least a 12". This thing rocks!! I'm very impressed with the response with both music and movies. I demoed the Martin Logan sub - the match to the rest of my system, I chose this one. I have him in the back of the room in the corner and you can't tell where all the base is coming from.
Summary: Anyone giving this subwoofer three stars or less, either has a terrible home theater system, doesn't know what they are doing, or is used to buying top end professional equipment (why they would give a product of this range a low rating is beyond me). **If you look up the user "My story" his reviews are on 6 or more Velodyne products and they all have 1 star ratings. How many subwoofers did this person buy and take to Singapore? Clearly suspicious.
Summary: Really Sharp looking. Plenty of Bass. Very well Made. Sounds Musical, and will be Awesome for movies as well. I paid just over $300.00 delivered, and doubt there is anything in that price range brand new that can touch it.
Summary: I've had this sub in my living room for about 4 or 5 months now, and I'm still amazed at the sound quality. Granted - it's not quite as accurate as the much higher priced Velodyne servo-driven subs, but for the money it can't be beat. It reproduces the really low frequencies just as accurately as the higher frequencies, and the response is smooth across the entire band. I have it crossed over at about 100hz.
Summary: Its a Velodyne. Not as powerful as I thought it might be. Putting that aside the bass is deep and clear. I believe it is more tuned for music that movies. That is what I bought it for anyway so no biggie.
Summary: Very nice, robust construction and sound. I'm not a sound expert but the sound is impressive for my room (aprox. 600 sq. ft). Installation is very easy, it is connected to a Denon 2311 receiver. I definetely recomend!
Summary: My former sub was a 20 year old top of the line 15 inch sealed driver M&K sub that could reproduce sound down to 10 hz, but ran hot and ultimately melted its power transformer. While the specs say this Velodyne can only reproduce sound down to 29 hz spec, my test disk says it produces sound down to about 20 hz. It does this without the back of the unit heating up too! It has adjustable high frequency roll off and blends nicely with my 7 Boston-Acoustic speakers.
