Summary: I purchased this to compliment by B&W 685's. it more than did the job. I had it set at about half power, and it was perfect for both music and movies, with an emphasis on movies. For the price I highly recommend this subwoofer. It is worth every penny.
Summary: This unit does not work from day one, but as I set it up after the 14-days return period allowed by Electronics Expo, my options are either to use it as a foot stool, or spend $60 to send a "supposedly" new unit back to Velodyne for repair.
Summary: The 20 word short and sweet: I don't always buy sub's, but when I do, its a Velodyne. I have a very large room (30X40) so I new I needed at least a 12". This thing rocks!! I'm very impressed with the response with both music and movies. I demoed the Martin Logan sub - the match to the rest of my system, I chose this one. I have him in the back of the room in the corner and you can't tell where all the base is coming from.
Summary: Anyone giving this subwoofer three stars or less, either has a terrible home theater system, doesn't know what they are doing, or is used to buying top end professional equipment (why they would give a product of this range a low rating is beyond me). **If you look up the user "My story" his reviews are on 6 or more Velodyne products and they all have 1 star ratings. How many subwoofers did this person buy and take to Singapore? Clearly suspicious.
Excerpt: I use this Sub with some smallish Klipsch towers. Nothing but music. It's small, looks good and sounds great. Not boomy once its adjusted. It just fills in the low mids and lows. I love it. Oh, great packaging for the shipment to the house! Layer after layer of stuff. Exactly what I was looking for.
