Summary: This is a good sub for the price if you just want something to add some boom to explosions and such in movies, but for any serious music listening, you should look elsewhere. Even after a break-in of 80+ hours, it still sounded harsh, distorted, and "boomy" on real music. Returned to Amazon without problem, but had to pay return shipping.
Summary: I purchased this product and was disappointed when I found very vague directions for the installation. I did return it, it did not work for my particular application and return and refund were processed without delay.
Summary: Sounds great. Broke in 18 months. Meh. I like things that work really well, and this did. I don't like flimsy. This is. Others have had a lot of bad experiences with this product. Too bad, ML makes some really nice stuff.
Summary: Great sounding sub with plenty of kick, however, the one I had pops when it turns off. The sub turns on and off automatically based on the input signal. If watching a movie at a low to moderate volume, the sub will turn off during periods of dialog and turn back on when needed. This sub does not have the ON/OFF/AUTO switch (only off or auto), so I couldn't set to ON to stop it from turning off during use.
Summary: Let me start by saying that the 500 isn't a bad sub, but it wasn't what I would expect at this price range. Sure you can crank it and it will fill the room with boomy bass, but it will also distort. The biggest thing missing with this sub is what I call chest thump. Basically that first shockwave feeling of an explosion. It's just not there with the 500, however the aftershock BOOM will fully satisfy, albeit with some straining distortion.
Pros: Small form factor, flat response, can shake the room
Cons: Can't thump your chest, nonexistant during music
Summary: I got this sub for free when I bought the Motion 40's, so I won't complain too much. It sounds good when set at zero (on my receiver) but when turned up it doesn't give the long deep throws of bass I'm used too( I had an old MTX 12). I always leave the sub on for convenience and was watching TV with my receiver off and out of the blue it starts violently rumbling and hissing. Scared the heck out of the dog! Turned it off and it stopped.
