Summary: I have to be honest, when I first played music on the sub, it was great....but not what I was expecting. I did some research and all of the sound engineers recommended moving the sub around in the room and seeing where the sound was the best from the listening position. I placed the sub next to our couch, hidden behind the side of the couch and mannnnnnn, this thing came alive. What's even more interesting is what happened next.
Summary: I had a 12" JBL that pounded my 2 story house - especially watching Jurassic Park :) then the dumb thing blew out. I pulled out my Sony 8" sub that came as a freebie w/ the purchase of my Sony Rcvr years backs. JBL offered to sell me a replacement at a discounted price but never got around to it. I needed a pound you in the heart and vibrate the leather couch experience. Klipsch SW-112: mission accomplished.
Summary: This is one fantastic sub. Deep lows, not distorted at all. Sounds great with movies as well as music. It took me a while to get it tuned just right but when I did all I could say was awesome. I'm so impressed with the 112 that I'm considering purchasing another on to go with it. Or just maybe step up another notch and purchase the SW-115. I just purchased the Oppo 103 and can't wait to see if it takes my music and movies to another level. Great sub!
Summary: I have two of these in my living room and, what can I say? I am a glutton for smooth, clean bass. These subs have performed well over the past three months. I use the auto-on setting and the switching on/off is perfectly silent and seamless. This addition has improved my system 100% - I love it again.
Pros: Great clean, powerful bass. Silent auto on/off switching feature.
Cons: Larger than some would like, but I do like them.
Summary: I bought this to upgrade from an older 10" Klipsch sub and although the SW-112 is a 12" sub, the enclosure is roughly the same size as the old 10". I use my home theater for movies, music, tv, and games. So far I have been very happy with the SW-112 and it is still breaking in. A previous review mentioned not having an auto on....
Pros: Relatively small enclosure for a 12" sub (compared to older SUB-10), strong bass, easy to install
Summary: Has more power than my old Velodyne. I hope this one lasts longer, the old one didn't make it 5 years! Sound is great, almost too much for my rf-52's. Amp went out on old sub but the speaker was still good. Had to destroy the box to get the sub out... Part of the reason I choose not to got with Velodyne again.
Pros: Speaker build, quality switches, great sound. Love the cone design.
Summary: In summary, the morning after watching White House Down, I had to go outside and reattach siding that fell after the nails vibrated completely out! I jest but seriously, I've got this thing down to like the 20% mark on the volume. I love bass but I was NOT prepared for this. My neighbor and I are 15 ft apart but I cant help but wonder if he would feel the bass IF I dared to turn it back up to 50%. I could have probably been fine with the 200 watt model but oh well.
Summary: This subwoofer is impressive! I am using it in an approximately 30x30 "great room" and it definitely is up to the task! The sound is being piped in via SONY STR-DN840 and I am definitely pleased. As with any subwoofer, it can sometimes be a little difficult to find the perfect balance between epic bass response in movies , but still be tame enough for music. You just have to play with it a little.
