Small Hiccup on Arrival, but Otherwise an Excellent Buy

Summary: I reviewed this unit (discontinued) with the newer unit that Klipsch replaced it with and I didn't really see much of a difference and when there was one the older unit had a few better spec numbers. Upon arrival the port tube located at the bottom front of the unit had come unglued. Whether due to long term storage, humidity, or rough handling is was loose rattling inside the box.
Summary: I was hugely disappointed when I plugged in my new Sub. It was slow, lagging my speakers. My speakers cost $3,500 so I should not have been surprised, but I did not want to drop a couple of grand for the 20-45 Hz I wanted to emphasize. I now have over 400 hours on the sub. It is now much quicker and at those low tones, is much clearer than it was though It is still a tad muddy and from a pure audiophile perspective I would only give it 3/5. Movies are fine 5/5.
Summary: Aside from some rough handling and cosmetic damage in shipping (which Amazon kindly adjusted for!), this unit was a pretty good investment. My neighborhood is near a power distribution transformer yard, and 60HZ hum is a local "climatic" issue. Having a grounded power cord might hep with this.
Summary: I looked everyday, for a solid two weeks at literally dozens of subwoofers in the under $350 range. BTW, this is really a $450-$500 dollar range sub, but Amazon had it at an amazing price. I looked at the BIC's and HSU's which are out of the price range, but were at the top of my list and mixed whether it would actually hit like this Klipsch anyway. I had an 8 inch Pioneer that I had for maybe a month. It was ok, but just didn't hit as hard as I wanted my sub to.
Summary: Really nice, nothing earth shattering but compliments the rest of my Klipsch floor standing speakers well. Really LOVE the digital readout. Makes it much easier than guessing if you got a dial turned right. Also it has a button lock so my kids do not play with it and mess up the settings like my last powered sub.
Summary: I ordered this sub and let a friend know. His wife at about the same time had ordered it through Newegg as a Christmas present and he didn't know it. He showed her my great deal as a hint and she let him know she had already ordered it for $200.00 cheaper. While the sub was in in transit I tried to get a cost modification without any luck. I then figured I could use the return policy that Amazon has and order through Newegg. The sub never arrived!
