Summary: It's not like having a sub woofer. It's like not meeting one. Too bad they aren't making these anymore. It integrates perfectly with the series of bookshelf speakers from JBL. I'm crossing it over at 80 DB. This unit is extremely musical, but it can make deep sound effects with the best of them.
Summary: JUNK! I bought this 3 months ago, and this morning it simply stopped working. Calling JBL, they pushed me off onto a service center 2500 miles from my home. Since it is significantly heavy, there's no practical way to ship it back to them, so I'll likely eat the cost.
Summary: Although this woofer is made in China, it lives up to audiophile standards of performance and the cabinetry finish matches the quality of Harman/JBL products when they were manufactured in California.
Summary: I got this subwoofer at a great price. It looks as though they were blowing out the inventory of the cherry subwoofer as it was priced at 289 while the black was at 599. So obviously I picked up the cherry.
Summary: The JBL SUB 550P is a good solid performer that also looks high quality and performs just as well. Very happy with it. If there is a down side the only one I could find is that the feet or legs stick out outside of the cabinet. Very happy with my purchase.
Summary: Having bought the very excellent JBL Studio 530s for use in a stereo music system, I wanted to see if the bass from them could be properly extended. I wanted a seamless extension of the already good bass from the 530s rather than artificial excitement, boom or fuzzy warmth.
