Summary: This sub has serious horsepower. Vega has always designed speakers under the principle that bigger is better. Why spend a ton of cash on a speaker brand who continually tries to jam a lot of sound from a smaller driver/cabinet? If you have the space and a large enough room, get Vega.
Summary: Purchased this Sub to replace a older Cerwin-Vega V-12S that had been stolen. I have only owned this model for about a week and already love it. This sub has great low frequency sound and certainly has the power to shake the house.
Summary: I bought this sub on a whim looking to add a bit of low end to my system fully expecting "meh" performance. I was wrong dead wrong this unit blended beautify with my system. It did not stand out unless told to but simply added a presence I could not achieve before once crossed over at 50hz.
Summary: Cerwin vega is suppose to be one of the best home audio companies around, and the xls series is their "best" line. This sub would sound great, if it cost $80. Bass is weak and anything below 90hz is bouncy and muffled. The "250" watts rms is a joke. It MAY be putting out 100 watts.
Summary: I researched a lot of subwoofers on amazon and other sites... It boiled down to the Cerwin Vega CMX 12 or XLS 15. I could not be happier. I have this bad boy hooked up to an onkyo reciever that puts out 250 watts to sw. This speaker will make old movies and video games seem brand new again.
