Summary: My old system was a 7.1 system with 7 speakers plus sub. In the new house no way to string speaker wires for surround and back wall speakers. Had an earlier model Yamaha sound bar. It was adequate but wanted a little more. It is amazing how the 2200 creates and processes the 5.1 & 7.1 Dolby & DTS signals. My great room is very wide but the surround reproduction is excellent. Not quite sure about some previous reviews that said that the sub did not create enough low end.
Summary: We wanted a surround experience without the cords. This is for a tv mounted above a fireplace. Projection speakers are sitting on the fireplace mantel. Set-up was easy and sound much better than the TV. Maybe not the same experience a a true surround system but this is likely due to the room also not being a box shape, the living is an open design to kitchen /dining room etc..
Summary: Best soundbar with computer driven controls for the money and you can adjust the sound to your taste. Only my Yamaha YSP-1100 sounds better (it has twice as many speakers and cost twice as much). Most soundbars do not let you adjust the base and treble. The YSP-2200 gives you full adjustment of every aspect to the sound. The built in computer does a good job but you may wish to make fine adjustments. The HDMI ARC hookup is the only way to go, TV to soundbar.
Summary: This sound projector is great, I am still surprised when I hear sounds coming off the walls. ONLY cons: Sub woofer while being very portable lacks power because of its size, this issue can easily be corrected because the sub woofer is not hard wired.
Summary: Great product, I have to remind myself that there are no surround speakers. This unit is calibrated out of the box but one may use the mic provided to customise their calibration. If you have space, I suggest upgrading the sub woofer. Highly recommended.
Summary: This system REALLY performs! I'm coming from a Panasonic 5.1 surround system, and this Yamaha Sound Projector really lives up to the reviews. We have an incredible bass (fully adjustable from the remote) and the surround sound (still not sure how a sound bar does this) actually sounds better than the 5.1 system that we had. Our room has an odd shape to it, with an open wall on the right side. This system must've fully accounted for this because our movies sound awesome.
