Summary: Love this thing! I needed a reasonably priced ipod speaker that could be used outdoors when I teach outdoor yoga classes. Most smaller speaker systems do not have enough volume to be useful in that setting (beaches, parks, fields). This can be run on batteries or electricity and has a remote. The sound quality is good. (It is used and was recommended by a musician friend, Tony Redhouse) It was everything I wanted and needed (and is a pretty blue to boot!
Summary: Grab this while they last! Great portable speaker if you have Ipods/Iphones with 30 pin connectors. This is not an ideal product for your office or countertop, think more along the lines of compact PA speaker. Pretty rugged construction (Yamaha makes excellent PA/DJ speakers), great sound quality, and it gets pretty loud, too. As a bonus it can be powered by 6 AA batteries. Like others noted, remote is small and can be misplaced easily, but not really an issue for me.
Summary: I bought this for my husband to replace his expensive Bose speaker, that I paid almost three times more than I did for this Yamaha one, and it had stopped working. The Yamaha one works great!! The sound is great, it is very portable and very durable, I highly Reccomended it.
Summary: I've had this thing for several years and it still out performs most other portable speakers. In closed space like a bedroom or a garage this thing is almost too loud. Outdoors, not so much, you have to be relatively close. I was actually surprised by the amount of base this thing has, although it does distort at high volumes. Very durable construction, but sand can and will get into the ports located on the back of the speaker.
