Excerpt: I bought this to compliment the RX-V475 receiver that I purchased separately. At first I was skeptical due to the seemingly small speaker size, but wow was I impressed when I heard the sound quality the first time. While it doesn't have the high end sound that a much more expensive system would provide, it is perfect for watching movies and playing games in our standard size living room. I would definitely recommend this product and would buy a Yamaha system again.
Pros: Clear Sound, Easy To Set Up, Thundering Bass
Excerpt: We recently purchased this system to use with a receiver that we purchased back in 2009 (Yamaha RX-V365). For the price, this system is outstanding. The sound is clear and the subwoofer is impressive. We are using this system in our great room, and are enjoying it with games, action movies, tv, and music. We are very happy - awesome surround sound system for the price!
Excerpt: I needed a new surround-sound speaker system, and I preferred not to go broke buying one. This system was simplicity itself to set up, and sounds great in my front room. It's not a high-end super-fidelity speaker system, but I got much more than my money's worth. Highly recommended for this price point.
Summary: I would have given 5 stars if the specs were clearer about watts per channel rather than a general statement of "100 watts" Other than that they sound clear and loud. Bass is only up half way and it booms nicely. I recommend using the Yamaha RX-V375 5.1 Channel 3D A/V Home Theater Receiver with these speakers, they work well together.
Summary: I got this speaker set for a gift from my wife and I love it. She got them at a great price (about $130). These speakers are well suited to my AV Receiver (Dolby 5.1, 7.1), which has 100 Watts/Chanel output for Dolby 5.1 (L, C, R, SL, SR) and a sub-woofer line level output. With my Receiver, these more than fill the 30'x20' living room with more sound than is needed.
Summary: When I started looking for the right HT Speaker my optiones were between the Yamaha NS-SP1800BL 5.1-Channel Home Theater Speaker System and the Energy 5.1 Take Classic Home Theater System, I decided for the Yamaha HT because It's cheaper, my point was "OK I'm going to settle with these one and then I'll start building my own set piece by piece from different brands, there's no point in spending more money on the Energy HTS".
