Summary: Fantastic sound, price was excellent. Had searched for in ceiling speakers for some time, prices seemed way too high. The Yamahas showed up in top 5 ratings when searching recently. These required a 9" hole to mount, which allowed removal of the builders mounting box with wire against the studs and when installed were big enough to cover! Winner in my book.
Summary: Good quality speakers. Installed them in the drop ceiling tiles of a training room in a commercial office building as the mid and rear surround speakers of a 7..2 system. Sounded good at first, and when I laid 2 layers of R-13 insulation over the top the bass improved and they sounded even better.
Summary: I have about 12 pair of these all over my house. I haven't found a better price/performance ratio that these. They aren't the "perfect high-end speaker", but they aren't slouches by any means. If I had a dedicated listening room, I would use these, but for whole house audio, these fit the bill perfectly.
Don't waste your money on more expensive speakers.

Summary: These speakers rock. I have a Sonos Connect amp pushing 4 of them. Very good sound and decent bass (guessing due to going with the 8" instead of 6.5"). No need for a sub. I have them in my kitchen ceiling and love them. One thing I did that may help the acoustics is packing the rafter with sound deadening insulation around the back of the speaker. Would buy again.
Summary: I installed a pair of these in my kitchen and run them off a SONOS C100. I cannot comment about the sound quality from a sound engineer's perspective, but qualitatively they sound good to me and produce good volume considering the amp I am using. Installation was straightforward and they sit quite flush to the ceiling (sheetrock).
Summary: Great sound easy install. I've had many good speaker systems going back many yeRs and although not an audiophile, I know the difference between a good clean sound and the boomy colored sound of speakers designed to sound good I'm the showroom. These are the real deal and I highly recommend them ( just stuff lots of fiberglass in the ceiling cavity before you permanently mount them.
