Summary: I replaced a pair of Advent Rubies with these. What struck me immediately was a marked increase in clarity and detail -- together with some reduction of warmth. Since detail was my goal, I was pleased. The upper and mid ranges are quite good. I would also call them unforgiving. For example, period instrument recordings are not going to be softened or warmed by these. At times, they verge on being strident -- though, I think they are in fact being literal.
Summary: i have an old yamaha intergrated amp and i use this as my home theater system. these speakers are a perfect match and the 3 way system puts out an awesome sound for just 2 speakers !!! i am more than happy with my choice. i would highly recomend these speakers for either a stereo system or for what i use them for.
Summary: These speakers handle 120 Watts RMS (per speaker) quite well. All sound - base, high frequency and mid range are absolutely clear. I had to replace my old philips speakers that came with FW-C85. Now I have a truely multibrand (like multi national :) audio system Amp - Philips Woofer - Sony Speakers - Yahama Though the recommended Speaker impidence rating for FW-C85 is 6 Ohms, I could not really find one.
Summary: My 10 year old Paradigm Titans started sounding weird, a lot of jarring. I needed something inexpensive while looking for good speakers to replace the Titans. NS-6490 are really nice, to my ears it sounds as good as the Titans. I would definitely recommend this.
Summary: When i ordered these speakers at the unbelivably low price they are listed for, I assumed they would be just average but boy was I surprised. I am an audiophile...owning Adcom amplifiers and JBL speakers, and having owned 2 nightclubs in Vegas...but these little devils rock the house and honestly for most parties you would have, do not even need a subwoofer.
Summary: yamaha is the best and always will be don,t know why i bought that other brand they are not good at all these 6490,s have more power than any other speakers out there will replace the one.s i bought w/ 6490 yam,s as soon as i can
Summary: well,i still have my somewhat highend NAD preamp and amp but my small monitors have played there last note.So here i was on amazon looking for bookshelf speakers with something more thana 5 and a quarter mid bass. I read each and every review on these speakers and decided that these should well be worth the money.
Summary: I bought these speakers as El cheapo studio monitors for mixing down music,,, And I must say they sound pretty good out the box,,, A little lacking in the low-end, but hey they are book-shelf speakers, what are you expecting? Since they were lacking in the low-end I purchased a cheap set of 3-way cross-overs on ebay for them,,, and installed them and they sound even better now,,, I must add I'm taking the signal from the computer into a the (((Pyle-Pro P1501ATU 1500...
