Toshiba SBX4250 review: A ho-hum sound bar with surprisingly good features
20 May 2013
Summary: Toshiba's SBX4250 is a sound bar with a good set of features at a decent price, but its sound quality and design are merely adequate.
Pros: The Toshiba SBX4250 is loaded with features, including built-in Bluetooth, two HDMI inputs, and two optical inputs. It also has onboard Dolby Digital decoding, which can be useful in a few cases. The included remote is nicely designed, with plenty of options for adjusting sound.
Cons: The SBX4250's sound quality is just average and its styling is pedestrian.
Summary: Coming in, I was a big skeptic of the sound bar. They were everywhere at CEDIA just like headphones were at CES. As everyone jumps onto the bandwagon I worry that most companies are looking to go out there and just get something to market but not to make something that actually delivers. From the time that I hooked up the Toshiba SBX4250 until now, it made a big improvement in the quality of sound in my living room.
