Summary: I decided to put together a home theater system which is still in the works, so this is my first system but definitely not the first I have been around. Over all I think these are pretty good speakers for the price. They sound good for 4way speakers but as many have said they are slightly lacking in bass but not by a lot. So these are a good choice if you are just starting out or you're on a budget.
Excerpt: I use these speakers for a surround sound set-up. I have a Onkyo TX-SR 608 hooked up to them with the whole 7.2 setup and these towers sound great. Still trying to break them in but the bass is great and very clear and the highs are good very crisp. They are a great buy for the price dual 8 inch woofers and the mid-range and the tweeters, these are a great deal for what you pay. The same set up will cost you [$] and up for only one tower if you buy from other retailers.
Excerpt: These speakers provide excellent, clear sound. I previously purchased the SS-F5000 speakers but wanted more. The added bass makes a huge difference for me when listening at lower volumes as everything sounds "full". Of course, at high volume they shine and my wife now demands that I listen to Jack Bauer saving the world at a more moderate volume. Awesome value, awesome speakers.
Pros: Attractive Design, Easy Setup, Good Power Output, Great Sound Quality
Summary: For the price these are perfect for any home. The sound is great and can handle the power I put to them. I got no distortion or cracking from them. Even when my unit was almost at max volume. I would suggest these for anyone. The bass is great for the size of the speakers putting it out.
Excerpt: The sound quality is very good. I use a subwoofer with mine, the bass is a little weak without it. They are taller than I thought, but take up very little space. If you are on a budget these speakers will blow you away. I couldn't be happier with my purchase.
Excerpt: These Sony speakers sound OK for the price. If you do not have the budget to go with better speakers, these would be a good purchase, but if you can pitch in at least $250-$300 for a pair of speakers there are better sounding speakers out there (Yamaha, Polk Audio, etc). These speakers are meant to work with lower end recievers. With High-Currernt recievers they do not perform well.
Excerpt: I have had the previous version of these speakers for years. Love them. I don't like bass reflex, very muddy, boomy. I plugged the bass ports with the tops of a spray paint can, fit perfectly to make a sealed box. Turn up the bass to compensate to your liking and please add a subwoofer for the lows. Can't ask for more for the price. Mine are five years old and sound great.
