Summary: I was looking for a pair of low distortion, broad band, flat response curve speakers of small size, and I seem to have found it. Encouraged by the available specifications and favorable reviews, I purchased this pair of Sony SSF- 7000 speakers. They arrived in good condition despite the packing box bearing signs of a violent trip. The cabinet is constructed of stout, vibration free, black, perhaps synthetic, mystery wood of moderate grain.

Summary: Sony isn't known for speakers, and that's to your benefit. If they were, you'd pay 50-75% more and pat yourself on the back for being so discerning. As it is, the SS-F7000 is a notable bargain. There are a lot of really awful tower speakers in this price range, but don't lump Sony in this group.
Summary: I decided to put together a home theater system which is still in the works, so this is my first system but definitely not the first I have been around. Over all I think these are pretty good speakers for the price. They sound good for 4way speakers but as many have said they are slightly lacking in bass but not by a lot. So these are a good choice if you are just starting out or you're on a budget.
Excerpt: I use these speakers for a surround sound set-up. I have a Onkyo TX-SR 608 hooked up to them with the whole 7.2 setup and these towers sound great. Still trying to break them in but the bass is great and very clear and the highs are good very crisp. They are a great buy for the price dual 8 inch woofers and the mid-range and the tweeters, these are a great deal for what you pay. The same set up will cost you [$] and up for only one tower if you buy from other retailers.
