Summary: I tested these at a local retailer against every major brand. I had a tech busy for about 2 hours comparing various models on various receivers. My concern after reading these reviews is that several people state "not as good as the ss-f6000". I have to say that is so far from the truth it's unbelievable. I compared both next to each other against several generas of music, a movie and a baseball game (needed to catch the score).
Summary: I've had several decent sound systems my whole adult life. I was looking to build a system instead of being limited to a boxed type of surround system. My Onkyo 5.1 system is very nice but just seemed a little lacking so I got these based on the reviews and the price, and I matched them with the Yamaha 471 receiver and am blown away by the sound quality. They look good as well in my little living room next to my 50" plasma.
Summary: To start off this review, I want to say that I am no "audiophile". I do however know what I like and don't like in speakers and enjoy good quality sound. I have done a lot of research on speaker setups and I am familiar with most of the high-, medium-, and low-end speaker companies. Knowing that, I hope this review is helpful. To start, I will describe my system.
Summary: I have owned some very expencive speakers in my time ( Bostons, Bose, Genesis, etc....) however these speakers are just plain great ! I also have the B 3000 bookcase units and they are just as nice with a little bit less bass. If you want a great set of speakers & don't want to spend a lot, go for these. Enjoy!
Summary: First off let me say i have owned many many tower speakers over the past 10 years or so .every thing from high end to budget speakers let me tell you. when i hooked these speakers up i was shocked at the clarity and the tightness of the bass they sound better then my buddys klipsch rf 52s and them are some bad a$$ speakers.no speakers out there can touch the overall sound you get out of these speakers in there price range period !!!!
Summary: These speakers arrived a day before the estimated delivery date which is always good. And they sound amazing. I wouldn't call myself a for sure audiofile, but I do have a high appreciation for sound. And these speakers are amazing. Especially for the price. They do come with speaker wire, but it is a very small gauge, so I would suggest buying some high gauge wire.
Summary: Please trust me when I tell you that these speakers are great. The sound from Sony's SSF-7000 speakers gives my living room a much needed PUNCH! For under $200.00 this is a deal that shouldn't be ignored. I've built my entertainment center around my Sony PS3 with all Sony products, because I thought it was time to have everything sync together as one unit. The only probblem I had was that one of the speaker cover was damaged at the top, but the speaker was untouched.
Summary: I should have learned enough lessons by this age but not so. What you get is what you paid for. So true. This is a perfect speaker for rap stuff but not for others. The distortion and annoying sound on the treble for orchestral or chorus is unbearable. I'm tossing to the dumster and buying a magnepan.
Summary: Very good speaker overall. Won't blow you away, but for a relatively low-priced speaker, it's solid. Very clear notes, decent bass. A powered sub for the bass enthusiasts might be preferable, but not a must for those that aren't crazy about having a very "bass-y" sound. Quite happy with my purchase!
