Amazing speakers for the money!

Summary: These floor speakers sound great! I can't say they are the best out there, but for the price, you can't go wrong! I upgraded to Sony SSF-7000's from a pair of Polk R300's (Polk's cheapest set of floor speakers) and the difference is amazing! The Polk's sounded pretty darn good, but it only had a mid and a tweeter, so it didn't produce a strong full sound. These Sony's however, give off a much fuller sound, even at extreme high volumes.
Summary: i'm a sony fan but i have to admit i was a bit worried. i sampled the ssf-5000 pair at best buy and compaired to polks and klipsh speakers with the same number of same size drivers the sony seemed a bit, 'lacking', despite the lower price they were unacceptible imo. but while i was there i realised that i'm in an open area with a reciever that's probably calibrated for the more expensive set, not using the subwoofer which i would have in my home setup, while at the same...
Summary: I bought these because a consumer magazine rated the performance of this model's predecessor a "best buy" in floor standing speakers. They even beat out some very expensive Polks for sonic accuracy. After getting them installed, they didn't disappoint. Excellent highs and more than adequate bass especially considering the price paid.
Excerpt: These things really have an amazing sound.. For the price it's a major steal! Even the bass is great. I use these for my computer, and i am definitely planning on getting at least 1-2 more pair(s) to make a surround sound of music.
Pros: Attractive Design, Easy To Connect, Great Sound Quality, Powerful
Excerpt: Sounds great and powerful. I used it with a very old Sony reciever/amp with equalizer. The equalizer helped maximized the highs, mid-range and Low frquencies. These are also very efficient and I put in only a quarter of volume and these babies rocks. I tried it with full power and they sound great without any noticeable distortions. This is a gotta have for any smaller room or basement.
Pros: Attractive Design, Compact, Easy To Connect, Great Sound Quality, Powerful
Summary: I'm not the foremost authority on speakers or anything, but I listened to about 30 or 40 pairs of speakers trying to nail down where to start my home theater upgrade. I didn't want to spend 300 bucks on a single speaker, so that ruled out several brands that produce high-end floor speakers. I was becoming dismayed until I heard the ssf-5000's (the single woofer model) and decided that I should give sony a shot. I hunted down a pair of the 7000's and wow.

Summary: Purchased and Received these speakers just a couple days ago. The free shipping was great considering the weight of the speakers. They are great! No complaints here. I was upgrading from my original aiwa speakers (made by sony) in my home entertainment system. The difference is amazing. Highs mids and lows are all great. I always recommend a powered sub woofer, I do have one. However, if you get these speakers you can get by without one.
Summary: The reviews for the previous model, SSM-F750H, were good so I bought a pair of these to replace my retreaded Advents. I listen to a wide range of music including 70's & 80's rock & roll, jazz, new age, and classical. The SSF-7000 reproduce highs, mids, and upper lows great. However, there is a significant resonance on very low frequencies that causes the speaker to boom on the low end. I'm 54 so maybe it's just an age thing but booming bass is not what I want to hear.
