Summary: This is a very good pair of speakers. They are crisp and loud, and I even DJed my sisters party using them with the help of a sony 12" subwoofer(which i really did not need to turn up much because the bass quality is very good). This should sound impressive: My backyard is about an acre large and you could hear it clearly and loudly from anywhere in my back yard.
Summary: UPDATE: after running these for just over a year - lets clear up alot of the ASTOUNDING reviews. Realize that to get the best sound out of any speaker does not begin with the speaker itself but with the amp/receiver that pushes them. I would NOT buy these to plug into some home theater kit bundle receiver - that wont cut, even just on the power rating alone.
Summary: These Sony speakers are as underrated as the Bose speakers are overrated. The Sony SSF-7000 speakers have a wide range for sound clarity. I had an old subwoofer that became obsolete with these speakers. That cleaned up some clutter for a cleaner look. I did a lot of research on speakers and the high marks these got are deserving. I replaced a pair of Bose 300's on pedestals. The Bose speakers were very good but the Sony's have a better sound.
Summary: Bought these to replace some SLS satellites I have. These are the first floor standers I've ever purchased. The SLS have 4" mid and low woofers in each speaker, while these puppies have 8"! And I can tell a huge difference. If you are into rap and big bass, these paired with a sub will do the trick. I also notice that the tweeters and mids sound more crisp on these Sony's than the satellites did. Big plus!
