Review: Scandyna MicroPod SE speakers and dock for iPod

Macenstein
15 April 2008
  • Conclusion: If money is not object, the Micropod SE line of speakers by Scandyna is a great system which can be expanded to fill any size room (or budget). Be warned however, the SE’s require the purchase of an additional amp, so their $200 price tag is a bit deceiving, but audio-wise you will get what you pay for in these speakers. Scandyna’s $219 dock accessory is a bit limited for the price, given that it will only work with the iPod/iPhone.
  • Pros: Excellent audio quality, eye catching design and color choices, option to add a subwoofer to really annoy the neighbors
  • Cons: Micropods require separate amp (upping their price), the dock is a little on the expensive side, skimpy on extras

Scandyna Micropod SE

PC Pro
13 August 2007
  • Excerpt: The compact Micropod SE speakers contain an active amplifier rated at 100W RMS in one unit, with a 3mm stereo input, volume/power dial and spring clamps to connect the second speaker. The closed cabs contain a 70mm Kevlar driver and 19mm tweeter, which is rated at 10W RMS. The frequency response is restricted, naturally, but the Micropods do at least know their limits and roll off sharply at the lower end.
