Summary: I was limited in to a paritcular height when purchasing these bookshelf speakers. I was recommended Polk speakers but could not make them fit in my bookshelves. After spending some time reviewing various speaker brands and models I came across the Image speakers. These speakers are great, they fit well and provide ample sound for my 20' x 20' living room. The sound clarity is great and I hope in time to purchase a central speakle to compliment these.
Pros: Clear sound, large sound from such small speakers
Summary: I have these paired with a NAD c356dac streaming sonos at I am very impressed. The bass carries suprisingly very well in my 20x15 living room. The highs are detailed and warm, very neutral and enjoyable sound. For $170 Its a steal.
Pros: Excellent mids and high and even decent bass when paired with a good amp.
Summary: I purchased the speakers based on a recommendation from my Crutchfield representative, Zach. It was excellent advice! Paired with a Sony receiver, the speakers are a little tight just out of the box. So I would spend a few days running various types of music at various volumes while I was away at work. After about 30 to 40 hours of play, the sound is more rich and full.
Pros: excellent value and great for classical and most classic jazz music
Cons: as the low-end is not as deep without a sub woofer, I probably wouldn't recommend these for loud large space rock music.
Summary: At $179 these speakers are unbeatable. Tight, punchy bass which is quite deep and full for such a small box and woofer. I feel no need for a sub. Rich, clear open mids and crisp, airy highs with no hint of shrillness. They play amazingly loud without strain. They have a great soundstage and precise imaging, with a real three dimensional quality unmatched by any speaker i have ever owned at any price. I couldn't be happier. Way to go, Paul!
Summary: I purchased these as PSB B4's on sale as they're being discontinuing for the new Image X line-up. A complete steal for $179.99 I have them paired with a NAD D3020 Hybrid amp (which I love) & a Mordaunt-Short Aviano 7 (10" sub 175 watts) They are fine speakers. I'm about 25 hours in for break-in & they keep sounding better as times goes by. Excellent soundstage for such a small (4" driver) They are very neutral sounding & maybe a tad polite, but that's what I like.
Pros: Size vs. output! Insane quality speakers for short money! I purchased the Dark Cherry finish & even though it's a laminate, it's appearance is beautiful IMHO.
Cons: Could be a tad more efficient, but I'm splitting hairs.
Summary: I was a bit uncertain about buying these. I thought they were pricy, compared to other similar speakers, and the vinyl finish wasn't particularly appealing to me. But, I got them anyway and I couldn't be happier. They sounded great right out of the box. I have them hooked up to a 15 year old 25 wpc yamaha shelf system in a small, 11 x 14, room and they fill it nicely. I don't feel the need for a subwoofer at all.
Pros: Great sound and no breaking period necessary, although, i do think that they did get better after a week of use.
Cons: Not a big fan of vinyl wood grain finish but they do look nice from distance.
Summary: I got these to fill out the surround on my PSB image system. These little guys are light (can be easily wall mounted), and have crisp sound. is modality. I hear these are sufficient as standalone bookshelf speakers, but I have not tested them.
Summary: Very impressed with the sound of these speakers. I needed to replace an aged bose system, but did not want to spend the same amount. The Crutchfield adviser recommended the PSB and he was spot on. Thank you Crutchfield. I will be ordering the Sub and outdoor PSB speakers, next.
