Good, with some reservations

  • Summary: I purchased these for use in a 2.0 bookshelf setup. If that is what you are using them for, either get a sub in addition or get the Image B5s or the Imagine Minis. The bass from the B4s is limited by the design and size. Other than that, these are exceptionally clear and detailed, and have amazing timbre in the middle region. The treble is somewhat rolled off, so consider an amplifier with tone adjusment.
  • Pros: Size, clarity and detail, amazing mids
  • Cons: Bass is tight but lacking in the lower regions Treble is rolled off

PSB-4 your room

TomM, Crutchfield

  • Summary: I have them in my bedroom that is about 15'wide by 22' long. The sound fills up the room. You will need a sub woofer to take the 20 - 150 range, but the speakers cover the remainder of the range surprisingly well. I would recommend these for simple low cost speakers.
  • Pros: Good sound for a small speaker.
  • Cons: Could use a little more ummmph in them. I use a subwoofer that really fills in the low end and with that they are really good.

Excellent Sound For Their Size

BobS, Crutchfield
26 August 2010
  • Summary: Getting high quality sound over a wide frequency range from small speakers is a challenge. These speakers meet that challenge. They are small enough to satisfy even the most particular decorator, as well as being handsome. The sound imaging is very good. Other than a slight "boominess" sometimes noticeable in the middle bass notes of piano recordings, the frequency response sounds impressively even and natural.
