Summary: I bought these to replace my aging pair of Polk Monitor 5Jr's which have served me well since 1987. I wanted to invest in a really nice pair of tower speakers for once, without breaking the bank and these are just perfect. The sound clarity is amazing and the bass is quite powerful despite having only 6.5" drivers. It does shake the house when I have the rare occasion to crank them up, and I'm only using an 85w per channel Yamaha receiver.
Summary: WOW!!! These things are a huge step up from my Bose accoustimass system. Very crisp clear sound. I combined these with six TSi100's for the surround speakers and a Polk Audio Center channel. I'm not even sure if I need a subwoofer. These things put out awesome clear bass. They have a very clear crisp sound from the top frequencies all the way to the bottom. I'm not saying they are top dollar speakers, but for the money they are a fantastic deal.
Summary: I feel it is only fair to mention my music history and musical tastes before you read the review. I am a former DJ and worked in pro-sound back in the 70’s and 80’s. I have used and owned countless speakers and my musical tastes are anywhere for Abba to Zappa and nearly everything in between including classical. I am a strictly a 2-channel stereo type of guy with strong feeling for analog sound and a firm believer in 1980’s amps, receivers and tape machines.
Summary: I am an ordinary person who loves nice, clean, clear sound, the way it was meant to be. These speakers clearly do that and more. I got a subwoofer to go with this pair and an additional set of TSi200 bookshelf speakers. The base from these TSi500 speakers is really enough for me. I like balance and no so much loud punch in my music and these speakers do just that. I would suggest these to anyone looking for a great sound at a nice price.
Summary: I bought these speakers going by the reviews of others and I'm glad I did. They are part of my surround system and sound fantastic.I have hardwood floors in a medium size room. This is the first time I have bought Polk products and am very impressed. I have these coupled with a Polk powered sub, Polk c-20 center, and Klipsch rear bookshelves. They are being driven with a Sony receiver delivering 100w per channel.
Summary: We bought 2 of the cherry versions as front speakers for our 5.1 home theater setup. These speakers really shine even when streaming lower-quality music from our portable audio devices. A sub-woofer makes these speakers really rock, but even without they give out plenty of bass without drowning out any of the other tones. The balance feels very comfortable. Movies sound full and rich. We purchased the Polk CS20 as our center speaker.
Summary: Well, I was initially using Polk monitor 60's as my main front towers, a Polk CS1 Center, 2 Kef K 160's for my back speakers, a Polk PSW10 subwoofer, powered by an Onkyo TX-NR609. When I decided to get these Tsi500's as my front main towers, I put the Monitor 60's in the back and put the Kef's in a different room. The Monitor 60's sounded great bi-amped as the main towers, but the Tsi500's really blow them out of the water. The music and overall sound is more very rich.
