Summary: Replaced front channel speakers - Pioneer 3-way 150watt speakers. The pioneers had a 10-inch woofer, so more bass then these. But I mainly use the system for 5.1 surround (for movies/HD TV), so towers were no longer needed. I played them side by side and they sounded much better. I have tested them w/both stereo sound (music), 5.1 Dolby Digital surround, and DTS sound. Winner all the way.
Pros: Great clarity and warmth for a 2-way speaker that is so small!. Nice bi-amp inputs.
Cons: Obviously a little light on bass, but what do you expect for this kind of speaker
Polk Audio RTi6 deliver. Great for the midrange...

Summary: I ordered the cherry veneer model from Crutchfield.com for $379.99 w/ free shipping, on Saturday, they were at my door Tuesday afternoon. Fabric grills could get an upgrade for a speaker at the this price point. Most higher end models furnish something in metal. It would be nice on these since they are the higher of the midrange as far as quality and $$$. The veneer is nice to look at, and the wire connectors are quite substantial.
Pros: Good size. Not too big, not too wimpy. Delivers wonderful warm room filling sound at all levels. Blues, Rock, Electronic, even classical. No complaints
Cons: Sound wise no weaknesses. Do they really expect you to use the 2 supplied drywall screws when one wishes to mount these to a wall? Sure mount $400 speakers with 1 drywall screw! Wankers!!
