Summary: I bought these speakers to start my own home theater system, these speakers were recommended by a friend who is an audio composer. They shipped very fast, they were scheduled to come at least 4-7 days after I ordered them but showed up in 3 days, when I got them not only are they very pretty speakers...
Summary: I bought these beauties along with the 10" matched sub from Polk and they sound great hooked up to my Onkyo TX-NR414. I live in a condo with a medium-size living room and I highly recommend these.
Summary: I got this speaker a few days ago for my study, and have to say that it's sound quality is not too impressive. Generally, the speaker is pretty harsh with a very soft bottom end. I have compared this speaker on a good amp with the Revel F-12 (~$ 1500) and this speaker is not even close at all.
Summary: Polk makes very good and very inexpensive speakers. I have had them in my car and house and will probably never buy another brand of speakers. I have owned and auditioned top reference monitor and home theater speakers costing hundreds to thousands.
Summary: I use these as the fronts on my 5.1 surround. For reviews and a look at what else is in my system, check out my other reviews. These came from J&R Music via Amazon. The Speakers were packed in original manufacturing boxes and arrived in great shape. J&R is a top notch partner to Amazon IMO.
Summary: These speakers definitely for movies, not for music. Saturated middles and highs, not actually neutral for voice, guitar, other natural instruments. For the movies that kind of sound would fit. Yes,the bass is impressive, highs are bright and sharp, too bright and too sharp for me.
Summary: I had experience with many speakers from different brand names. Monitor 50 from Polk Audio are pretty good for movies, I'm sure they designed for movies, powerful enough with good bass, decent middle range and acceptable highs. If you need more bass you can just add subwoofer.
