Summary: I had these sitting in my closet because of the size constraints of my room and the lack of low end on them. But now that I am running an RCA subwoofer that was no longer a problem. I had been running a Bose, then a Klipsch and then a Yamaha (I have written a review on these if you are interested in my observations in regards to these other speakers). But I had noticed all of the shortcomings of each of these speakers over time and wanted more out of my music.
Summary: I bought a set of M50's after looking at all the reviews. I bought the Onkyo 616 7.2 reciver and haven't wired it up yet. Waiting on my wires to come in. Right now I have on my H/K the Polk M50's for front and the Polk M20's on my backs... Sounds great and very life like with movies. When I get the Onkyo 616 wired and will be goiving the Polks a little more power I wonder how much better the Polks will be.
Summary: Great speakers for a great price. It's that simple. The reviews speak for themselves about this product - and almost any Polk speaker. This company puts engineering first - and doesn't inflate the price just for the name.
Summary: I got a pair of Polk Monitor 50 series II (all black) from NE's BF deal for just $150 shipped. These speakers are very well built and nice looking. They are quite heavy and big but no complain after I turn them on with my receiver...they sound amazing! The sound is very crisp (need to turn down the treble), clean, and have decent amount of bass though not the shake-the-floor kind of powerful bass but good enough for my need. Highly recommended.
Summary: I bought these speakers to start my own home theater system, these speakers were recommended by a friend who is an audio composer. They shipped very fast, they were scheduled to come at least 4-7 days after I ordered them but showed up in 3 days, when I got them not only are they very pretty speakers but the quality of them is very nice, they are very well built.
