Summary: For budget conscious speaker buyers or those who want a more powerful, detailed sound than that delivered by most satellite speaker systems, the Polk Audio entry-level Monitor series speakers are an excellent option. The CS1 is one of two Center channel speakers offered in Polk Audio's entry level Monitor series. The CS2 uses a larger 6.5" diameter woofer, as opposed to the CS1's dual 5.25 woofers. Both use a full size one inch diameter tweeter.
Summary: I was just putting together a new home theater setup and combined this with a Denon receiver. Let me say that this speaker has beautiful sound, really amazingly crisp and clear. You may have heard people talk about the holographic sound stage, if you have this speaker you will know what they are talking about. I don't regret buying it for one second.
Summary: I have recently upgraded all of my speakers to Polk and have not been let done. This speaker does an amazing job and sounds great. I would recommend to anyone looking to upgrade their sound quality.
Summary: Considering how much you can spend on a center channel speaker, this one sounds pretty good. I have always had particular taste in sound, preferring a lot of mid range over treble and bass. While it is not my old Boston Acoustic speakers it is pretty good. You should probably go listen to speakers before you buy them though (I did. I might have bought it at the retail store, but I could get nobody to help me). Then pick out what you want.
Summary: When I bought a 50" HDTV a few years ago, I bought an all in one home theater package. The type you typically see in the $300-$400 Range. The surround was fun, but for listening to music it was pretty muddy. I decided to put together a better system. I started with a Yamaha Rx-V663 receiver and a pair of Polk Tsi-200 bookshelf speakers. Had I stopped there, I would have been very satisfied with that system for music.
Summary: I purchased this center channel at Circuit city today. I paired it with a Sony STR DG520, Bose Acoustimass 10 cube surround sound speakers, Acoustic Audio PSW10. I have since played Transformers, Normal TV (digital cable), Halo 3, and Music Channel TV stations, and FM radio through it. I also listened to this against the $200 Bose Center channel, $250 Klipsch, $230 Boston Acoustic, and cheaper $110Polk Center Channel.
Summary: First off I must rate JR Computers & Electronics; 5 stars there. Ordered this unit on a Wednesday & it arrived via UPS Friday, same week. It was in original factory carton unopened, packed inside a second larger box with still more packing material, safe and sound! I've ordered other items from JR and as always, for an online purchase I barely had time to blink. Now about the product; Nice looking wood finish, with the face in silver.
Summary: I bought this brand new and couldn't be happier. I hated how I had to crank up my sony xbr3 speakers to be able to hear dialogue in one scene and then have to turn them down in an action packed scene so they wouldn't be blown out. The CS1 sounds incredibly great for the price. My room is approx. 16x20x7 and this is plenty center channel. As you can see from the pictures I added, I also have a Polk Monitor 60's center and a Polk PSW111 sub.
Summary: I got this center channel speaker to go with my Polk Monitor 50 tower speakers. Acoustically it is a perfect match for the towers and presents a seamless sound stage. If you have any of the Polk Monitor series speakers up to the 50's. I highly recommend it. For the higher model numbers with the larger drivers, go with the matching CS2. Sounds great at a VERY attractive price point, recommended.
