Summary: Although I'm aware of the dimension of this center channel speaker, I still got shocked when I unpacked the package. It is a huge unit and I'm really glad I didn't choose the even bigger CS2 (even if it should sound better). First of all, you have to make sure you have the room for a solid 7 inch high box. I replaced the center of my Energy Take Classic 5.1 with this CS1. The first impression is disappointing.
Summary: I could not be more impressed by the value of this 'little' center channel speaker. I must admit that I was a sort of disappointed by how large the speaker box is after I set it up, but after a few days, I don't notice it and the sound of my movies is so much better. My girlfriend no longer lunges for the remote during action scenes, and dialogue is incredibly clear.
Summary: This is a pretty good speaker when accurately paired with the TSI 400 front channels and the Polk Sub. Adding the center helps render dialogue better and you don't need to turn the volume up really high. This is good because when you turn the volume up to hear dialogue, music, explosions, etc... will rock your house.
Pros: -Affordable -Easy to shelf Mount -Helps with dialogue -good looking
Cons: I think it could be a little more potent. While the sound is clear it is not very loud. Now, this could be due to either or both of the following: 1. The speaker is not fully broken in yet, I have it only a few weeks. 2. I am in a 420 square ft room with 13 ft ceilings at its peak. It's possible I should have upgraded to the TSI 500s or the RTI line. If either of these things are true it is not the fault of Polk. It's still a very good speaker.
Summary: This is a heavyweight audiophile quality speaker that replaces a skimpy, weak sounding center channel speaker purchased several years ago from a "big box" store. By using my Radio Shack sound level meter, I am now able to bring the Polk Cs10 to a comparable level with my main L-R speakers. I have finally achieved the richness of 5+1 surround sound and the benefit of intelligibility from my system.
Summary: This little box puts out a big roar. It is much better than expected for the reasonable price. I flipped it over and put it at an angle facing up (45 degree angle) since it was placed below my projector screen. The front grill will flip over as well so the logo is facing right side up. This was a replacement for a no longer made Martin Logan center that no longer worked. It's a bit harsher than the ML but that is to be expected.
