Summary: Awesome sound when used as single channel speakers and they will last several years outside. This is my third or fourth set of Polks. Don't try to run both channels through this speaker as it ends up sounding muddled.
Summary: I did a lot of research before selecting the Polk Atrium 8 SDIs and I am extremely happy with them. I setup a 5.1 system on my deck to also show movies using 3 8 SDIs, 2 polk atrium 6 and the Polk outdoor sub, using a yamaha rx-a1030. The sound is nothing short of spectacular and everyone is blown away when they hear the system. The acoustics are incredible and the sound is rich, deep with good bass. You won't be disappointed if you purchase these speakers.
Great Specs that translated into stunning performance on our Deck-we bought 6 of these

Summary: Not knowing much about speakerfile talk and lingo I did a quick review of FAQs and of spec comparisons which on paper made these Polks look like about the best affordable outdoor speakers I could find, (frequency response, watts, and sensitivity). All I knew was that the previously installed amplifier needed 8 Om speakers. So I ordered two to give it a try.
Summary: I was using a home stereo amplifier to power these speakers in my backyard. I decided to test them indoors. With just two speakers it sounded like I was at a nightclub with a legit sound system....(Had it on loud) The bass on these things make these speakers the best....the Sound quality is TOP OF THE LINE..... Loud, Moderate, Soft, Low.....all seriously the best domestic speakers i've heard in a Long time.... If you can shell out a little extra cash....
Summary: These are bigger than I was expecting, but probably why they sound so nice. I have them outside by the pool, driven by a Sonos Connect and and an Audiosource Amp110, and I couldn't be happier. The high frequencies are crisp and clear while the low's have just the right amount of depth. Mid-range is warm and inviting. These aren't going to crack the concrete, but have more then enough oomph on the low frequencies.
Summary: This is a great sounding outdoor speaker with respectable bass reproduction. I replaced a pair of 4.5 SDI's with these in order to gain a little extra bass. As with all items there is definitely diminishing returns on the investment. The 4.5's are a great sounding speaker for the money but the 8's are definitely better in all registers. They were worth the extra money (almost 3x the price) for my purposes but may not be for you.
Summary: These speakers are better than I expected. I'm running each speaker in stereo mode with 2 pairs of wires running to each speaker and they sound great! In my opinion they are a steal at this price (I paid $222) The build seems solid and while i just got them, they should be around for a long time. mounting hardware is great and gives you many options (mounted mine in corners and they look great). The sound is rich, full and has enough bass for outside use.
Summary: I have owned many different performance series speakers in the past and these Polk's are on par with any of them. I have them outside, mounted on the deck railing, facing the pool. I bought just one speaker to experiment with the overall coverage of our backyard. We have around a half acre in the back with some road noise and the speaker has proven to be a solid performer day in and day out.
Summary: Let me start by saying I am a fan of Polk Audio speakers. I have a pair at work, a pair for my TV surround sound and now this pair for my new living room. I bought them for an indoor space because I wanted to have a two speaker stereo set up (no sub) that had wide dispersion and blended in to the all white room. After I first plugged them in I almost packed them back up and returned them.
