Summary: I bought them just a year ago. First impression was not good because i was using an old Pioneer receiver with just a few resources. Now with Pioneer 1123-k i could notice how amazing they sound. I can't complain. Center channel is also a Pionner "by A. Jones" Great sound. I do not recommend to use them without subwoofer but that will depend on your preferences. Fluance surrounds are on the way. Let's wait and see if they match or not.
Summary: I'm actually not done yet with the burning in process at this time, but so far, I like what I'm hearing. For it's price and sound quality, it sure did meet my expectation. I couldn't quite give the 5 star rating at this time because I'm kind of detecting an over exagerated base with some music; not all but a few; and at one point, I thought, I heard a boxy like sound. But I'm not totally blaming the speakers of this experienced.
Summary: These are excellent speakers for a home theater surround system. I bought 2 more a center and a subwoofer all under $300. These are a little large but can be mounted with an angle bracket underneath. They sound great when the volume is turned up.
Summary: I'd sent my Definitive Technology Mythos ST's in for repair and I needed something to hold me over while waiting for their return. I remembered a pair of Pioneer speakers ( Pioneer?? Really?!?) that had been positively reviewed in Stereophile and decided, that at the price ($140.00 a pair), they were worth a gamble. They arrived, I set them up, let them play some minutia for about 24 hours to break them in, and finally sat down to listen.
Summary: These sound great but they are not the most efficient. Be sure to have a good amp behind them. The binding posts are a nice touch. May be a little big for desk use. I'd also suggest some isolation pads under them to reduce the vibration it would introduce on the desk.
Summary: I needed a new set of rear channel speakers and did not want to spend big bucks. These speakers are a good quality build and sufficient for rear channels. While rewiring my setup I had the chance to swap these with my Axiom M3's. The Pioneers could not stand up to the Axioms. Almost muddy in comparison, none of the depth or sweeping soundstage. They were best on rock. Could not produce a decent orchestral sound.
Summary: These speakers sound great! They have great bass for their size. The first thing you notice when you take them out of the box is how heavy and well built they are. As stated in the AVS forum the speakers are not as bright as other speakers. The have a flat response, but the clarity is great. For [$] it was a great buy.
