Summary: A great buy for $60 for a pair. Some people complain about the design of the box since it narrows down in the back. But I was kind of glad for it because I was able to wedge them right next to my TV without getting stands.
Pros: Great bass resonance - This will fill a medium size living room. Though I would still recommend a subwoofer if your house members allow it. Sound is rich and level most of the time. Miles better than my Insignia NS-SP213 bookshelfs.
Cons: The highs are a little toned down. Maybe a tad too much for my taste. Bass can muddle up the experience sometimes but only in certain songs and movies.
Summary: This speaker along with the more current SP-BS22-LR represent an unbelievable achievement for the money. Terrific sound and image focus can't be beat. High end design at a budget price. Do not hesitate you will not be disappointed.
Summary: Overall, these speakers were a great buy to go along with the purchase of the floor speakers. The most important thing to keep in mind (in my opinion) when purchasing these speakers is to make sure you can accommodate their size. they weigh about 7-8 lbs each so mounting them to a standard surround speaker stand won't be an option.
Pros: These speakers are a great buy to go along with the floor speaker set if you are looking for a full surround sound speaker set up.
Cons: These speakers are much larger than you might think. You don't really realize their size just by looking at the dimensions on paper. They are well above average size for a bookshelf/surround speaker.
Summary: purchased refurbished pioneer speakers. One worked the other disn't work. Had to return to store. Will repurchase speakers, but if this happens again I will never buy refurbished through walmart again.
Summary: paired with a quality (but not necessarily high powered) amp, I'm finding these pretty optimal as monitors for mixing and sound design. Again, some roll-off, so you need to double-check with headphones now and then, but let's face it, any powered monitor setup under $300 and anywhere near this size is going to strain for those frequencies if they even try.
Pros: great value just about all of the sonic accuracy you need not fatiguing
Cons: their size and shape make them a bit cumbersome to integrate into an audio/recording station highest highs and lowest lows are rolled-off fairly directional which might make a difference for basic home stereo use.
The "pro" reviews convinced me to buy...I'm glad I did
30 June 2014
Summary: I was considering a pair of powered speakers for my desk, to play music from my laptop. But the consistently glowing reviews from several online "audiophile" sites for these speakers tipped the scales for me. So I bought these, and a small amp to power them (I chose the Topping TP22 for under $100). These speakers are being replaced by Pioneer SPBS22, so at the time of my purchase, they were $62.
