Summary: These speakers are a great deal at $129. They are an absolute steal at the $58 a pair I picked them for. I'm using them in a 7.1 system as surrounds and rear surrounds. Before that I broke them in on a Audiosource AMP-100 (about 60 watts with a 6 ohm load). They are quite large for a tweeter/ 4" combo, but with solid construction. As a few have mentioned here, they do not have that overly "bright sound", but they have a very smooth, non-fatiguing tone.
Summary: I've been using these speakers for a year now with no problems. I'm giving them a five star review because with just these two speakers I'm able to get a full range of sound. These speakers sound really nice and warm with good bass tone and treble without any muddyness from the bass. They aren't shallow or dull.
Summary: Paired with a Dayton DTA 120 class t amp I am in musical heaven...and all for less than $200. I didn't know my music could sound this good. I am no audiophile...don't want to even head that way b/c I don't have that kind of disposable income. However, after hearing about the good deal and reviews on CNET I figured I could give it a try.
Summary: After seeing glowing review on cnet, I cautiously ordered these, concerned it was just a slick promotional gimmick to unload stock. Well if it is.... I'm glad I fell for it. I'm using these with a traditional stereo receiver for music, movies, and television viewing. They have great range and FULL sound. Just what I was looking for at a terrific price per pair!
Summary: I purchased these speakers mostly because they were Pioneer brand speakers, and I've never been let down by Pioneer. With that said, I'm extremely happy I made this purchase. These speakers put out a phenomenal sound for the price you pay for them! I'm not would you would call a audiophile, but I appreciate a good sound output when I listen to my music, movies, games, etc. These speakers do not disappoint.
Summary: Make sure you have a good place to put them if you get these. I typically mount my speakers a little above ear level but with no mounting points and my landlord not letting me put nails in the wall I have to sit these on the floor until I move.
Pros: I got these speakers to replace one of my surrounds that busted during a move for my 5.1 setup. They are a subtle yet noticeable upgrade to the ones I got years ago packaged with a receiver.
Cons: No mounting points to hold them to a wall, but they are bookshelf speakers so that's a little expected. Can't really fault the good people at pioneer for that.
Summary: Pretty Darn good... I am an electronics Tech and have been an Audio nut for some 40 odd (I mean that) years. $78.00 bucks , WOW! I got my moneys worth and more. At the moment they are sitting atop my SEAS homemade 3 way towers on foam pads. These are not heavy walled so the pads at high volumes and they do go quite loud stops secondary vibes to the towers. The sound:- After two weeks of "thrashing" them in not to bad at all.
Summary: I have owned many speakers over the years but this is the best. I paired this with the Lepai 2020+ and a Sansa Clip Plus and the sound is tremendous. The Lapai amp WILL drive this speaker without distortion as long as you listen at a NORMAL listening level in a 10 by 18 ft room. There is great bass (especially if you tweak your equalizer) and the highs come out of the tweeter crisp. I would recommend this speaker.
