Summary: These speakers have resisted admirable efforts to destroy them by My Denon AR888 (about 350 watts rms..just guessing). I`ve gone through three sets of RL front speakers now with blown coils. These guys keep going no matter what the input power! My last set were the Athena 100B`s..they lasted three days...I think?!! or maybe I was just hearing the JVC center speaker left over from My previous system (How has it managed to survive??!!). Anyway, So far so good!!
Summary: Recognized brand name (Pioneer). Very affordable. Good sound. My sound system allows installation of a 2nd set of remote speakers and these filled the bill with reasonably good sound at very low cost.
Summary: I want to share sound between 2 computers so I needed some small speakers beside the monitor that I could connect to my stereo. These speakers aren't meant for bass, the highs are clean & clear, and they deliver bass too. Nice speakers & the price is more than reasonable. As always, Pioneer came through for what I wanted.
Summary: They were a pretty good value for the price. Pros: Price, Size, Clearity Cons: Not Very loud without distorting, Case is pretty fragile. Overall if you are looking for great surround speakers dont buy these, but if you want to use as a small stereo system (as i did) for the price you will be happy with them
Summary: I grabbed a pair of these when they went on sale mainly for the purpose of practicing "experimenting" on some speakers (i.e. modding them). I also own a pair of the S-HF31-LR speakers, which have larger 6.5" drivers (check my other reviews), and I thought the HF31s were a good deal. I currently use the HF31s in my bedroom for music listening. The HF21 is a definite step down however. The build materials all look the same, and the sound is similar as well.
Summary: I've been a fan of Pioneer for car speakers and grabbed a pair of these bookshelf speakers as a secondary pair for the apartment. I don't think you can go wrong for the price, the sound is tight and punchy with good imaging. The sound is stronger on the high range, not much reach down low even with the tuned rear port. Paired up with a small subwoofer (that would allow these speakers to focus on mid-range) you'd have the start of a decent sound system.
Summary: They give the sound that two ways generally give (typical lack in well defined mid range ). They are great for people who like to rock out or just need a good solid pair of speakers and don't care much for high quality. What really impressed me was how vary strong, clear, and tight the bass was after positioning a little fiber glass insulation all around the insides. The bass can almost punch you in the face if your not careful!
