Summary: I have had these for a couple of months now and the subwoofer switches off when its not in use, this is great however if it is off for more than 10 mins or so, it lights up as if it is working, however there is no sound from it. Contacted seller and was told to contact someone else who hasn't bothered to reply. After sales service is basically non existent.
Summary: . I purchased this Onkyo speaker set a month ago and have been hearing an occasional 'pop' / 'thump' from the sub-woofer. It was a while before it dawned on us that the noise was coming from the speaker rather than our next door neighbour (they're prone to knocking masonary nails into their walls regularly). Doing some web research (after purchase, foolishly), it seems that this has been a common fault over a few years, and acknowledged by Onkyo.
Summary: thought i had found a bargain but only £150 at hyperfi and €152 at amazon germany.. no matter how good they sound when i get them set up, this is going to leave a bad taste... no refkection on product... just amazon pricing and me assuming best deal would be here. delivery was fast but not worth £40!
Thumbing Issues with Sub woofer - Revisited Comments after a period of use!
13 November 2013
Summary: REVISED COMMENT AFTER USE BETWEEN NOV 2013 - MAY 2014 I am new to this game with AV systems. I bought this for my AV Onkyo TX-NR414. I read some reviews which indicated that there was a manufacturing defect with the Subwoofer bit of the set of speakers. I found out its NOW true, at first thought it was false. Bought this Nov 2013 and now its May 2014. I have been to the settings and using the manual.
Summary: Sales Came fast well pleased dispatched and seemed like next day.. Im very happy with these speakers, They have a very nice black Shine, the SubWoooofer is 9inch Width, 16inch High and 16inch back to front, all euro men going wild now sorry im old and confused, but looks great sat next to the unit.. The Speakers come with cable small gauge 0.5mm maybe, ok for me as mine are tv based not all over the room like they should be.
Summary: Ok so I've had an Onkyo TX-NR515 amp for a few months now and I had been using a decent pair of floor standing speakers for the front left\right but the rest of my 7.1 setup was achieved using generic 50w 'Made in China' speakers and a powered sub woofer that was made for use with a PC but I have been happy enough with my gaming and movie watching. So I decided the amp was feeling like the black sheep so I ordered this speaker kit to go with it and boy am I glad I did!
Summary: After recently buying a new AV Receiver for 3D for my main AV setup, I moved my old AV receiver into my bedroom. This set of speakers was bought so that I could have better quality sound for my bedroom TV, Sky+ HD Box and Bluray Player. I didn't really want to spend too much on a full set of speakers just for a bedroom, so this set seemed to provide value for money. The sound quality is really quite good, considering the price.
Summary: This buy was very worth the money considering the quality for the price. Hooked the speakers up to my Onkyo TX-SR309 receiver and and it was all sorted out. They go very loud and the bass from the subwoofer is good. Great buy. I would recommend this.
Summary: For the entry level, this Onkyo is perfect! It adds bass and a lot of surround when connected to an Onkyo amp, but I find that the basic speaker cables that come with it are not up to the standard of the amp. Other decent cables make a LOT of a difference. Lucky enough I had a good deal with pro cables included, so I'm happy. You don't have to break the bank for a decent home cinema.
