Excerpt: The world is full of loudspeakers and their manufacturers. Try as I might, I can’t review them all, and normally I have no problem with my limitations. But where Mordaunt-Short is concerned, a feeling of having missed the boat haunts me. Given the quality of the Alumni sat/sub set I reviewed in March (my first review of a Mordaunt-Short product), how could I have missed out on such a stellar company, especially one with a 40-year pedigree?
Excerpt: There is bit of a gap in the range of English loudspeaker maker, Mordaunt Short. At $2199 this model is a price leader in this pack, but the next set of MS speakers start at well over $5K so we went with this one. Yet looking at the Mezzo 6 loudspeakers, the last thing you’d think is that they are out of place in this grouping.
Pros: Very good overall sound, Very good sound stage
Excerpt: It's difficult to resist the stare of the Mezzo 6s. The traditional wood finish (it's actually a very convincing wood composite), the graphite-grey baffle and aluminium drivers are a potent union of sophistication and modernity. There are a couple of other attractive touches that are worthy of note, including the curved cabinet, the elegant magnetic grilles and eye-catching, custom-made bullet terminals.
Pros: Lively sound, excellent dynamics, fast and articulate delivery
Cons: Beware of partnering them with bright-sounding kit
