Summary: I had been shopping for new speakers for quite awhile to replace my huge Klipsch Chorus II speakers that I'd bought in the mid-90's. They still perform nicely but I needed something less imposing in my living room. I'm keeping the Klipsch for my man cave as they are superb when used with higher end amps. These Mirage OMD-15's are beautiful to look at and to listen to. I'm not yet finished breaking them in as is specified in the manual that accompanied them.
Summary: I started out with, and still have, Bose 901 series VI and although the Bose are great they actually can't match the quality of the sound that comes from these speakers and these things are not near as power hungry. Close your eyes and it's almost like being there. I'm also very satisfied with the bass that comes from these and cannot imagine, if these sound this good, how much better (if possible) that the higher priced Mirage speakers sound.
Summary: I suppose a pair of cotton gloves is packed with each speaker because these babies clearly beg to be caressed. What an elegant design ---sleek, rounded and glistening. That sums up their sound as well; instruments just materialize out of thin air with remarkable realism and soundstage. Couldn't be more pleased with the look, the sound and the value.
Summary: I used to pay not much attention the rear speakers as I am not 100% into AV (mostly audio only). As soon as I put this pair up as the rear to complement the front OMD28 pair, the stage comes alive! In audiophile terms, the best word may be "Presence"!
Summary: I probably have had over 15 pairs of speakers come and go over the last few years and I spend a good deal of time restoring older classic speakers, with dedicated systems for just about every room in the house. My first experience with Mirage was a set of Mirage OMD 5s I dropped into my Home office system. Those OMD 5s outperformed a set of 1500.00 Bookshelf speakers I was running at the time.
Summary: I've had these speakers for about a month now. I have the glossy rosewood finish and am in love with how they look. They look way more high end than than even the original selling price suggests. More good news comes with the sound. I did as much research as I could before perchasing these and read that they lean more to warmth. I agree. I am not a fan of bright speakers and definitely prefer a warm sound when listening to music.
Summary: There might be better words to call the sound they produce but ill call it spatial sounding. Its really different from what im used to, more direct placement sounding speakers. But for my personal application where its located in a nook only 1 foot from the rear wall and 1" away from the side walls its as good as it gets. Soundstage is huge for its placement and it fills the room nicely.
Summary: Posting here also, as I accidentally posted to the OMD-15 theater-speaker system category. I only have the stereo pair. These are excellent speakers for the money. I run them bi-wired, and augmented by a subwoofer. My room is 13Wx20Lx8H. SOUNDSTAGE: Huge and holographic. Extends beyond the side-speaker boundaries, and, on the right recording, has great depth, going beyond my rear wall. Great soundstage height too.
Summary: I just received these Mirage speakers and I am more than happy with the purchase. They are a piece of art, sound amazing and worth every $. Believe it or not, but they come with silk gloves... Would highly recommend giving it a shot. delivery took only took 3 days. Any time again!
Summary: After auditioning these for a while and reading about them at Nanosat Mirage i decided to pull the trigger. Sure am glad I did, these easily exceeded my expectations and match perfectly with the OMD C1 center which is now half off online.
