Summary: I bought these for my father in law for him to use in his home recording studio. He mainly produces southern gospel and contemporary Christian music. These were an upgrade for him. We are amazed at the bass sound that these produce. You would think there was a bass sub attached! The sound quality is very good. I recommend these to anyone looking to upgrade their current monitors. These are well worth the price.
Pros: Attractive Design, Easy Setup, Easy to Mount, Great Sound Quality
Summary: ive read a lot of reviews on amazon of people having problems with their monitors. this made me sceptacle but i think that its kinda like the news in that the bad news is more likely to be reported on (people who had problems are more likely to write a review). hopefully mine are durable. they seem well made and i used have a m audio woofer in my car that was very high quality for cheap, and it bumped. m audio makes good speakers in my opinion and these monitors go hard.
Summary: Immediatly after turning on the speakers one had a humming sound which indicated a defective speaker. I returned them right away. I had read reviews of everyone saying they had problems with one of the speakers but I thought maybe there were just certain ones. I wouldn't recommend these beacuse of the high risk of recieving bad equipment.
Summary: Have to agree with the above reviewer (Pankow) ... I've had mine for about 3 years and the right one is having the same problems --> when turned on, goes full throw with hum. This is NOT a problem with signal chain; it does this even with all signal cables unplugged. It's a faulty amp. The warranty's up, but for what they charge, these things should last a lot longer than 3 years.
Summary: The M-Audio BX8a's arrived in a timely fashion, in mint condition, and they are doing the job. For three years I enjoyed the BX5's, but I didn't realize how much bass I was missing. The BX8a's still give me the clear highs, but now they are balanced with the full, sonorous bass sounds that give the entire sonic experience I was seeking. I'm lovin' the BX8a's!
Summary: I ordered the 8a after living with the M-Audio AV40 monitors and loving the sound, but wanting 'upsize' it with a bit more bass. These speakers deliver the bass in spades, but minus the directionless and china-rattling vibration that accompanies sub-woofers. I've only had them a few days, but even not fully broken in they sound great.
Summary: These sounded great for the first day but then one of the speakers developed a crackling sound - sounded like it was coming from the high frequency speaker - I e-mailed M-audio to get their support and to this day (e-mail sent 3 weeks ago) have not heard from them. Ended up sending them back to Amazon for refund. Amazon was fantastic in their support - credit came quickly.
Summary: I picked up a pair of BX8a Deluxe speakers on Amazon for a great price. I did some reading online and read about speakers randomly dying after purchase, but the price was just too good and I decided to roll the dice. Well, 2 months in, my right speaker went bad and never would work properly again. When I would turn it on, the woofer would pop, go full throw, and emit a 60Hz hum. Very bad stuff.
