Summary: The sound from the reference series speakers are second to none! Make no mistake by purchasing something other than Klipsch. I built a beautiful new theater in my home with multiple rows of elevated seating, and use only Klipsch for the sound. It's superb. We have used Polk, Bose, and other brands and nothing even compares. I could tell a major difference and this small center channel speaker works great in my large room. The vocals come off crisp and clean.
Summary: I purchased the Klipsch RC 42 Center Speaker for my surround system, and all the Klipsch work great with my Denon AVR, this was a complete Surround System over haul, added in the Klipsch RF 42's for the front L & R, the Klipsch rear L & R RS 42's, the two 8" Klipsch Jamo Sub-woofers, the front height L & R Klipsch Synergy S10's.
Summary: Last year I originally purchased a Polk TL2 center channel speaker for my first taste of clear dialog and center staging - boy was I disappointed. Not to slam the Polk speaker but the sound was muffled and dirty. Then I replaced it with the Klipsch RC-42 II ...wow. Amazing clarity and crystal clear highs. It also totally matches my EPI cabinets amazingly. Now I understand why you need proper staging for movies and 5.1 mixed music/scores.
Summary: Using as a PC desk Center with Bose 201's fronts and some box satelite KLM's rears with a Onkyo 626 A/V Receiver. I owned a 9.1 Ref II set in my main living room. Nothing beats the Klipsch. The RC-42 compliments the the Bose 201's perfectly. Clear, bright, accurate sounds which is what I need for gaming, internet and media.
Summary: This little speaker is not only accurate and with a nice soundstage, but packs a lot of punch out of a small package. Good for any medium sized room so long as you have a quality sub to handle the low end. Some people don't like horn tweeters but Kllipsch makes an excellent horn tweeter that doesn't sounds to bright or harsh to my ears, and this speaker in particular handles dialogue flawlessly.
