Klipsch La Scala

HubieM, Crutchfield
14 March 2014
  • Summary: I purchased these speakers as a college graduation gift to myself back in 1975. I have used these speakers for at least 8 family/friends weddings...they are still sitting in my living room as back speakers w/a pair of Herasy's as front speakers. Before purchasing the dealer let me take these speakers to his competitors and A/B switch to compare. Needless to say there is no comparison. I love these speakers. They have played great for the past 38 years.
  • Cons: Space could be an issue. A big room would be great.

Good Story!

James MacQueen, Amazon
24 February 2014
  • Summary: I purchased my La Scalas from Barbara Walters in 1987, she had just purchased Robert Lamm's Bel Air Mansion (the band Chicago ). She did not want them as they were built in to the wall. I bought the pair for $500.00. I had no idea of the quality, just assumed that they would be good if they were owned by Lamm. Can you imagine my surprise when I put on my Sheffield Labs direct to disc "Tower of Power" CD to try out the speakers for the first time. Scared the _____!

Not only a great speaker, one of the greatest pieces of electronics of all time.

hasty1, Amazon
27 January 2014
  • Summary: First off I will say this, a Klipsch La Scala is an excellent speaker, but I will add that it is one of the greatest pieces of electronics ever produced. These are an iconic speaker that has been able to remain relevant and admired for decades in an industry where the latest and greatest products are typically obsolete and forgotten in a matter of months or a few years. I am usually an analytical person, but these have an almost ethereal quality to them.

BIGGEST DISAPPOINTMENT EVER !

Francis Salcedo "FS", Amazon
22 September 2013
  • Summary: HI, I WOULD LIKE TO SHARE WITH EVERYONE MY EXPERIENCE WITH THE KLIPSCH LA SCALA SPEAKER. I HAVE ALWAYS LIKED THE WAY KLIPSCH SPEAKERS SOUND AND AFTER OWNING SEVERAL MODELS OF KLIPSCH SPEAKERS I DECIDED THAT I WOULD BUY A PAIR OF KLIPSCH LA SCALA'S. I WOULD LIKE TO SAY THAT BEFORE I PURCHASED THESE I DID YEARS OF RESEARCH. I READ AND WATCHED EVERY FORUM I COULD TO MAKE SURE I WAS BUYING A SPEAKER WORTH $7000.

You MUST buy these speakers if you hear them. Period.

starman99 "Starman99", Amazon
7 July 2013
  • Summary: These speakers WILL make you smile. I love to sit people down in front of my La Scalas for the very first time and turn on some nice music. A big smile lights up their face every time. I have a set of both series. Like one of the other reviewers said, get the money somewhere and buy a set of these. New or used. You'll sell all of your other speakers after that. I did. I have a pair of the first series underneath my stilt home out-in-the-middle-of-nowhere in Thailand.

Realistic sound and true orchestral dynamics

Michael J. Edelman, Amazon
28 February 2013
  • Summary: Audiophiles used to like to sneer at Klipsch designs- old fashioned, they said. Horns? Who uses horns? Horns are for PA systems. All they have going for them is efficiency, and who needs that is this day of 400-watt FET amplifiers? Until, that is, a few audiophiles rediscovered the wonders of simple, single-ended tube designs. Suddenly, 3 and 5 watt triode amps powered by surplus Western Electric 300B tubes were all the rage.

they suck

super zuke, Amazon
6 September 2012
  • Summary: To be frank these speakers sucks! Don't even try to use them in a normal house or even in a large basement the sound is all highs due to the folded horns. The bass well thats another story so much that the movie theater had to remove them. We could not use them, our unit with dbx 400 watt amp and pre- amp could not tone down the bass and treb. Enough for the movie. Now in a five hundred seat theater sounded bad try in a very large basement.
