Summary: To the previous reviewer; It's Hope, AR, not AK. They are located in ARkansas, not Alaska. Now that's out of the way, I have 4 of these speakers mounted in my 10 ft ceiling. They sound great and offer plenty of mid-range in my room. I am very happy with these and would recomend them to anyone. Yes, they are expensive, but as they say, you get what you pay for.
Summary: Missing mid-range and a single speaker for $400? I say you're not getting your money's worth at all. You get these rumbling distorted basses. I mean it is made in China and they still charge you $400 per single speaker for a speaker that cannot deliver mid range frequencies? For this performance at this price? Just say No, and I don't care how much Hope, AK hopes otherwise.
Summary: If you are reading this, you are shopping for an unobtrusive speaker. There are always trade-offs involved in trying to get music to sound good, but be invisible. What may the trade-offs be? Well, in the case of a speaker in the ceiling, the lack of directional control and the sense that the sound is coming from a tin can. Directional control becomes less and less of an issue as you go into the lower frequency range.
Summary: I purchased the CDT-5800 from http://www.sounddistributors.com/ and Eric Winston was great to deal with. He responded instantly to any question and was very helpful through out. The speakers themselves are fantastic and are worth the price.
