Summary: At first I was not too happy. Right off the box they sounded well.... boxy. But after about 20 hours they started sounding better. After 100 hours they are just amazing. I paired them with super punchy pioneer sa 7800 and they deliver amazing sound. Soundstage seems rather taller then wider, bass response is great for the size. No need for a subwoofer. Watching movies or listening to the music is pure pleasure now....
Summary: I've had these speakers for about a year. I've got them hooked up to a McIntosh mx132 receiver powered by a rotel rb-956ax. I got them.in white and I've them paired with a REL t7. They're great! I live in a small apartment and they are the perfect size and fill the room with great quality sound. The sound is balanced and rich with detail. These KEFs still sound very good at lower volumes, give them a little juice (get an amp!) And they'll really come alive!
Summary: I brought a pair of these speakers two weeks ago in little old New Zealand after auditioning several similar priced and sized speakers, including Bowers and Wilkins 685, Polk Audio Ts 220B, Wharfedale 121's, Mission M2 and the larger Kef Q 500 floorstanders. I am using these speakers as part of a stand alone stereo system with no intention of using them for home theater.
Summary: Day one, right out of the box, without the benefit of quality cables, these Kefs are very pleasant. I am spoiled by 30 years with Meridian M2s. The imaging is much better than expected, and will only improve when the new cables arrive and break-in. (See Morrow Audio.) The finish looks good from a distance; don't expect it to feel like real wood. I would have had to spend far more to get a noticeable improvement.
Summary: Just purchased a pair and I must say that they are amazing speakers for the price. It's often a challenge for audio lovers to find lower priced speakers that have the clean midrange associated with much higher priced equipment. If you are an audiophile with golden ears and a limited budget, get a pair of Q300Bs right away!
Summary: Bought a pair of KEF Q300 speakers, KEF Q600c and a pair of Pinnacle Subcompact 300 watt powered subs. Just wowed by the sound! Awesome clarity and amazing bass! Started enjoying the new sound with all kinds of music and movies.
Summary: I did a huge amount of research, and auditioned a couple sets of speakers. These things are seriously awesome sounding, and personally I think may blow competing B&W's out of the water. I have them paired with a small NR1403 by Marantz, and couldn't be happier. Thanks KEF!
Summary: Very happy with these KEF Q300s, easy to hear why they've won so many awards! They are not fully burned in yet yet still sound very good (only another 180 hours to go!). A friend from college had a pair of Reference 104a/b KEF's from the early 1980's they were the best speakers I had ever heard. This is how I was introduced to the KEF brand and quality. My house is small and my ears may not be a discriminating as his but these speakers are perfect for my tastes.
