Summary: Very capable speaker. It takes several hours of break-in before the mids and highs fully disentangle themselves, but then the clarity is unreal. The bass is crisp, but will not rumble the house like a sub will. Still, if you are a music listener rather than a movie fan, the bass is sufficient for most music. I will confess, though, that I added a bass cube even though I only use these for music, and I feel it improves the listening experience meaningfully.
Summary: I purchased these based upon the positive reviews. Let me first say that this is how I purchased my Bose 301 series V ( replaced by the IQ30's). The iQ30's revealed so much detail that I have been missing from my music. The Bose were muffled and colored as the IQ30's were instrumentally detailed and vocally clear. Paired by a velodyne deq8r sub for ultra lows; these speakers rock. A definite step up for me in sound quality.
Summary: These are my first KEF speakers. I wanted speakers to pair with an old stereo receiver that had recently been refurbished, i.e these are not my primary sound system speakers. I did a little on-line research before this purchase and found pretty consistent reviews. These speakers have apparently been manufactured for a while because the whole line of speaker cabinet options are no longer available.
Summary: Great sound out of the IQ30's. I'm using mine as front speakers in a 7.2 home theater configuration, along with a KEF IQ60 center, KEF IQ10's as front highs, CI160.2's as the surrounds, and 2 Velodyne Impact 10's. The 30's work perfect in my smallish room of 12x16. Very rich and crisp highs, and very smooth low end. I have mine place on 24" high Omni speaker stands. I did not use the "bi-amping option.
Summary: I bought these IQ30s to be my left and rights to complete my surround system which consisted of KEF iQ7s, an iQ60C, and a PSW2500. They wired up with the same terminals as the rest of the iQ family, and sound fantastic. You can pick this up for good prices since they're now the "Classic" line, but there's no reason to avoid them at all. I just need to find a decent speaker stand to get them up to ear-level, now!
Summary: I've been in search of a "reasonable" priced bookshelf for a month or more now. My budget is to stay under $600. I've sampled the B&W 685, Polk RTiA3 and Paradigm Studio 20's to give you an idea for comparing my review. The Qi30 is a wonderful speaker with good depth and a warm tonal quality. I listened to piano solo, R&B, rock and classical on these speakers and they played the music easily.
