Summary: Wonderful wonderful sound. Very happy with the purchase！ I am using Denon-X4000 to drive, easy and capable. After about 1 month it finally break-in, sound so balance and clear, very wide soundstage.
Excerpt: One does not need 250+ w.p.c. to drive the 590s. Their actual efficiency is 90dB, which gives 108dB SPL @ 1w/1m. @ 65 watts, and 114dB @ 250w max rated power. And 300w would make no difference from 250w, since Power (Watts) is a log scale (power must double for each 3dB gain).
Excerpt: Let me start by saying that I purchased a pair of JBL studio monitors back in the early eighties and used them as my "reference speakers" for over thirty years. I finally retired them last year - still in perfect working order.
The next thing I would like to disclose, is that I am a speaker junkie.
Summary: While these sound very detailed with all the bass you need, the cheap quality of the feet and grills ruined them for me. One was delivered with a broken plastic foot and grill peg. The grills are ridiculously flimsy, be very careful if you try to remove them, and follow the instructions.
Summary: The sound is very detailed due to the horn compression drivers. I'm hearing sounds while playing music that were missing in my old speakers. They are perfect for my bedroom since I never play them very loud although they can be loud if needed. I also like their natural sound.
Summary: I've had the JBL Studio 590 speakers now for about 4 months and really like the well balanced sound they produce. For the price they compare very favorably to some much more expensive speakers. My main use is to listen to music in stereo mode, but y TV and AV system are also hooked up to them.
crystal clear, not buttery like polk or Bose, Bass is moderated by using included baffles.

Summary: It has been a very long time since I have heard sonic honesty for use in general listening. In person the Studio 580 appears to be one of JBLs best architectural pieces. Having compared the sound to Polk Audio RTi10s, side by side, the Studio 580 is truly conquering in accuracy, clarity, and...
Summary: UPDATE: I revised my rating on these speakers. It was unfair of me to compare them to speakers costing two to three times as much. I've had the chance to do closer comparisons to speakers near their price range (Klipsch RF-82II, Polk RTi A7, KEF Q900).
