Summary: Wonderful wonderful sound. Very happy with the purchase！ I am using Denon-X4000 to drive, easy and capable. After about 1 month it finally break-in, sound so balance and clear, very wide soundstage. If you have a budget of $2000, this is probably the best system at this price (Speaker + AMP when there is a deal). Now I am waiting for other speakers of JBL studio series to have price drop then I will build my HT system with it. Five stars!
Excerpt: One does not need 250+ w.p.c. to drive the 590s. Their actual efficiency is 90dB, which gives 108dB SPL @ 1w/1m. @ 65 watts, and 114dB @ 250w max rated power. And 300w would make no difference from 250w, since Power (Watts) is a log scale (power must double for each 3dB gain). You'd need 500w for +3dB louder than 250w.
Excerpt: Let me start by saying that I purchased a pair of JBL studio monitors back in the early eighties and used them as my "reference speakers" for over thirty years. I finally retired them last year - still in perfect working order.
The next thing I would like to disclose, is that I am a speaker junkie. I love music. I love the sound of music. I have been on a quest for the perfect speaker all of my life, and have owned virtually every speaker you could think of.
Summary: While these sound very detailed with all the bass you need, the cheap quality of the feet and grills ruined them for me. One was delivered with a broken plastic foot and grill peg. The grills are ridiculously flimsy, be very careful if you try to remove them, and follow the instructions. The feet are so cheap I could see them flexing from the weight of the speaker, and was afraid to move them.
Summary: I've had the JBL Studio 590 speakers now for about 4 months and really like the well balanced sound they produce. For the price they compare very favorably to some much more expensive speakers. My main use is to listen to music in stereo mode, but y TV and AV system are also hooked up to them. In stereo mode they produce an open, very life like sound with plenty of punch in the bass department if you crank up the volume.
Summary: Without a doubt, the JBL Studio 590 is the finest speaker I have ever heard in my own home... or anyone's home for that matter. The horns reproduction of sound is so accurate and lifelike that I am amazed every time I fire them up. I purchased the JBL 520CBK center channel a week later- not only does my vinyl and CD's live and breath but my surround is incredible also!! If you are in the market for a pair of floor standing speakers- look no further!
Fantastic speaker design and build execution by JBL

Summary: I bought a pair of 590s sight unseen and have no regrets. I feel that I'm hearing the full audio spectrum with these speakers, no frequencies are missing. Great detail in the mid and upper frequencies but not harsh, along with detailed bass that's not boomy or muddy at all.
Excerpt: Purchased Studio 590s and their matching speakers for a 7:1 (SVS Ultra 13 sub)totally immersive sound system. After auditioning B&W, Paradigm, Golden Ear and others I settled on JBL for the realism in music I demand. The detail and sound stage are awesome. I hear cymbals that are true to sound and you can hear the diminishing sound after the strike. This is a well balanced system with plenty of punch and realistic sound.
Summary: These are fantastic speakers. JBL has done well with this 2 1/2 way design. They extend from the low to high frequencies without any noticeable coloration. Midrange is very smooth and great bass extension that is not too overbearing. I normally do not like horn loaded speakers and avoid them them at all cost because in most cases I find that they are too harsh. I decided to purchase these upon their high recommendation.
Excerpt: This is plain and simple the best JBL speaker out there - available for the home.
You can see how their pro knowledge has seeped into their home line.
I will probably also augment these with a pair of JBL STX 828 speakers for more low end, but, if, in the future, JBL added two 15 inch speakers to the L590 cabinet, it would have the best home speaker in the entire space time continuum.
