Excerpt: These are the best I have heard. Highs are not harsh, with a good amp there is detail, smooth extended highs, even though it is a 5" woofer there is "punch" in the bottom. I have been in pro audio for over 30 years and JBL at one point took a few hits with the reputation of "harsh mid and highs" this is not the case with the 530's as they are great in every respect.
Summary: These sound great right out of the box. Clean and balanced, plenty of presence and punch but zero screech from the horns. Really just sounds good, expecially for the money, and not super-sensitive to placement, the whole room sounds good. These were a good pickup.
Summary: Amazing clarity for the price. The treble has incredible balance and the midrange is very transparent. The bass is very clean and satisfyingly deep but not as punchy as I'd like. The sound of these horn-tweeters bring so much life and emotion to instruments and vocals; don't even get me started on movies! I don't have time, but all I can say is.. simply amazing!
Summary: I already had two prior-model JBL speakers and a central speaker, and needed two new front L&R, for 5.1 sound, Demoting the original speakers to the rear. I'd been happy with what I from JBL, but wanted something better as I'd upgraded my a/v equipment. The Amazon reviews I read were very positive.
Summary: I'll echo the sentiments of what others have posted here. The 530's are great speakers. Not your typical 2 driver bookshelf, and somewhat funky looking (especially without the grill cover on - but they sound better that way if you can handle the look). The bi radial horn with controlled directivity is special - nice to see JBL getting back to their roots with this design.
Summary: I received these a few weeks ago and they are taking up all of my free time. I simply cannot quit listening to them. I've been interested in the Studio 5 Series since I first saw pictures online, I'm guessing around 2 years ago or so, but never dug deep enough into them to really learn that much about them until recently. JBL didn't seem to have effective marketing for these and it's a shame because they are truly excellent speakers.
Summary: Of all the speakers I've been trying recently, these are clearly the best. Voicing is spot on, great clarity. punchy bass without being overbearing. A great choice for all kinds of music. Love 'em!
Excerpt: I just received these last Wednesday, and they are taking up all of my free time. I simply cannot quit listening to them. I've been interested in the Studio 5 Series since I first saw pictures online, I'm guessing around 2 years ago or so, but never dug deep enough into them to really learn that much about them until recently. JBL didn't seem to have effective marketing for these and it's a shame because they are trule excellent speakers.
Summary: Did a lot of research on these on a major audio/video forums, and read the reviews here on Amazon. These truly do sound better than their price bracket would indicate. Powering these with a Pioneer Elite SC-65, in pure direct mode they sound amazingly good. Haven't done any room correction yet with the receiver, as I am waiting for my new subwoofer and to bi-amp (controversial I know) them. They look far nicer in person than pictures show.
