Summary: I wanted something that was good in 2.0 channel as well as home theater. I own 2 other sets of speakers that the egg sells, and these just don't compare. If you don't mind EQing them you can get decent sound, Just the vocal frequency range is bad for spoken material. I was really disappointed in these. They are currently in my basement used for 2 channel music and are OK for that.
Pros: They sound OK in 2 channel stereo with music. You can play them loud and they don't complain except for boomy bass.
Cons: Used in home theater the vocals were very hard to understand. The bass is boomy and the treble is muffled. They are very big and the appearance is questionable.
Pros: Cheap, I bought them when they were on sale for dirt cheap. They go loud and weigh a decent bit like... they should, for their class.
Cons: Ugly.. might be somebodies style, not mine. I don't know what the crossover point of the "subwoofer" drivers are but I am guessing way to high to be mounted so low in the cabinet. Creates a very distracting sound, void spot in the upper bass frequencies. I have got to think that if they just built a normal tower out of these drivers (minus all the plastic junk mounted on the front) and moved the bottom driver up that they would sound a lot better.
Sound is good, but cabinet design is flawed and vibrates.

Summary: Overall sound on these JbL 180's is good. It appears that the design of the cabinet, with a separate enclosure for the mid-range speaker, is flawed. Once I hooked these up I heard an odd vibration sound. Thought at first it was something vibrating on the stand next to the speakers, but tracked it down to the speaker itself. I believe the mid-range enclosure inside the cabinet has some vibration when certain sounds are produced.
Summary: Outer box wasn't properly taped, not secure and a little bit loose. Inner box(from manufacturer) have a obvious hole on it and wasn't properly taped or maybe was opened then re-taped, very likely is not a brand new item from manufacturer. one speaker have 4 loose nails inside that making noise when moved, the other was secure inside of the box. since outer box do not have hole, i would think the hole wasn't caused during transporation.
