I do have to crank the volume fairly (60%) to get good sound in a fairly large room

Summary: Speakers are very small, a lot smaller than I imagined. However, this can be something you desire when mounting in a family room. I do have to crank the volume fairly (60%) to get good sound in a fairly large room, however they produce crisp clean sound. It's exactly what you'd expect for this price and the sub is above average for the price.
Summary: I'm surprised by the poor reviews for these speakers. I purchased them in combination with the Denon AVR-E300 5.1 Channel 3D Pass Through and Networking Home Theater AV Receiver with AirPlay . I live in an apartment with a sizable living room area, and these speakers combined with the receiver more than fill the space. They are tiny, but with proper setup (I used the Audyssey setup on my receiver) they sound spectacular.
Summary: As with many JBL subs, the amp died outside of the warranty period, but less than four years after I bought it. Additionally, the whole series has been discontinued, and JBL customer support was useless. Buy this only if you want to purchase another subwoofer sooner than you'd like.
Excerpt: Unconciously, JBL had resgisterd in my mind as a tops speaker manufacturer. I went past a vintage SCS 75 passive subwoofer, and bought it. Clean, clear rounded unsurpasseda, so comfortable bass is what I GOT! I've in Ghana and can't lay hands on these or might not afford it, but I'm making great do with the SCS 75 sub for the time being. Keep going, JBL - don't spoil it!
Excerpt: I’ve used JBL speakers (book shelve set) since I was an undergrad. We now have
them in our car and for Christmas I received this set. We “had” to buy a new
receiver (Sony) which works well with the speakers. I was very impressed that everything needed to use this product was included in the box. No secondary trips to
the store to buy wires, mounts or sundry other items. Easy set-up, great sound and a company that I believe it behind the product.
Summary: This is the second set I have purchased. I moved and left the first set in the house. All the speakers are excellent. However, the circuit board on the on my first set went out in about one year. It cost more to fix it that it was worth. So I purchased one from another manufacture. I understand many have had the same problem.
