Summary: Let me begin by saying I am an average Joe. I have an excellent ear for detail but have absolutely no knowledge of technical jargon that can appeal to a true audiophile. In this review I will explain why this is a top quality sound bar for its range, but also why it might not be worth the trouble. Looks: This bar is gorgeous. From an aesthetic view, the bar and sub combo is simply gorgeous. The bar features a design gently curving back on its ends.
Great Sound, but BLUETOOTH security is non-existent

Summary: The clarity of the sound is great. I kept getting compliments and people do not believe the sound is coming from this soundbar. BLUETOOTH security flaw: Bluetooth pairing mode is non-existent. Even when the soundbar is OFF, other bluetooth devices can easily pair with the JBL soundbar, turn the power on and start streaming music. There are no bluetooth pairing codes from the soundbar. Anyone with bluetooth device can just easily connect.
Summary: The only good thing (but most important) is the sound is pretty good....but I wouldn't buy it again!! I did not buy this product from Amazon and the salesperson in the retail store told me it simulates "surround sound" very well when you put the subwoofer is placed against a back wall. Not really - doesn't come even close! However the voice quality, music range, and strong bass are decent although not worth the high price.
Summary: Great sound. Easy set up. Would be 5 stars but the bar does not turn on when i turn the TV on which means I have to use the little disc remote to turn the unit on. Specs claim that it should auto turn on. I see other people have the same issue. I searched all over for a fix but could not find any. My connection is via HDMI with ARC.
Summary: I purchased the SB400 and found it easy to set up with my Panasonic Viera TC-P50ST50. The sound is very good. However, I have not been able to use the optical cable instead of a HDMI. The Time Warner said the sound quality would be even better with it. I have tried calling JBL twice and simply can have a very hard time understanding the support staff English. If anyone has similar system and got it to work would appreciate knowing how you set up the system.
Summary: First - when it works, sounds pretty good... base is great. Hey, it's a sound bar, so it's not gonna give you total surround, but will give you oomph for your movies, tv, and music. Problems - Bluetooth: it works, but couple of gripe (one is remote that lacks bluetooth button... WTF, the whole point of Bluetooth is being wireless... I don't want to go to speaker and click on bluetooth to work - why can't there be a button for bluetooth?!
Summary: The SB400 is really the best sound bar for my family TV. We are not looking for surround sound; rather, we did want a nice "pop" with movies and to better hear the dialogue- and when the bar was working it did all of those things. The issue we had was the communication between the subwoofer and bar kept cutting out. It would stay on for a few minutes, then switch off, then back... then off again.
Be careful of your neighbors connectiong to your sound bar

Summary: I would give this 5 stars because it sounds good but I am giving it three stars because of a bluetooth flaw. A few weks ago while I was in bed the SB400 came on blaring rap music. I live by myself and do not listen to rap. What happened was a neighbor connected to the bluetooth and paired his phone to my SB400.I live in an apartment so I do not know what neighbor it was but was able to figure out how he did it.
