Excerpt: Had these for several weeks now; shipping at ground rate was 2 days! Shopped, researched, participated in many blogs before finalizing a purchase. Things to consider: Nothing beats listening to speakers live; this takes time and there are many speakers in this price point. Room layout is as important as the power needed to drive speakers of this scope, take time to place speakers and choose an amp wisely - an additional cost but part of an overall good system.
Summary: Waited for a month or so before adding this review. So far I am very pleased with the JBL L890s, using them for both music and home theater, excellent sound on both. Did quite a bit of research on comparable speakers in the $1,000-1,5000/pair range, including Polk, Mirage, Def Tech, and KEF.
Summary: I purchased a 2 JBL L-26 speakers in 1975 and have loved them ever since. Now they have been demoted as the surround speakers. The L890's blow me away. They rock the house. My friends and I are loving them. I highly recommend these speakers.
Summary: These are the standing speakers that contribute to the stunning sound I get from my home-theater set-up. The sound with a blu-ray disk is stunning. They are large, of course, but if you have the room, I recommend them highly.
Have to hear to believe-Balance,Spectrum of sound,Clarity,Stereo image produced. Like a live concert, well until wife gets home

Summary: Bought two sets of these JBL speakers for my daughters home theater room from brick and mortar establishment. Sounded so full and clear I tried out the sound of these using my OPPO 105 (PURCHASED FROM AMAZON) attached to Harmon 20 amp amplifier. I was blown away by the tone and clarity coming from these non tower speakers. These had already been broken in for two weeks at my daughters before I borrowed the pair.
Summary: I have hooked up these speakers to my Harman-Kardon HK3490 (stereo amp) and AVR354 (7.1 surround) - more on this later. I wired my JBL L890 in a bi-wire mode, with two pairs of Monster speaker cables on each speaker. These JBL speakers performance is fantastic in how clean they sound and span the entire audio spectrum very well. The mid & low are warm and rich in detail.
Excerpt: As an engineer/producer of the "WHO" and many others over the years, I was asked to write a general review of JBL products some years ago which was posted on the JBL site........As well as listing many past favourite JBL speakers that I had used over the years (different units in different situations) I "praised" these speakers as my most recent faves at the time........
Excerpt: High-Frequncy Transducer titanium dome are fragile and not to reliable. On E80 both were burned after an average usage (2-3h/week) @ max 35% vol and maybee 10 times @80% vol. Couldn't find them and had to replace with some fakes. My system: Marantz SA7003, Pioneer DV LX550, Pioneer VSX 1017AV, JBL E80 (2), L810(2), ES150P, LC1 and Belkin PF30. All purchased new in New Zealand.
Best regards. Peter.
Summary: Just got yourself a pair of those, to say I'm happy it means doesn't say anything... These speakers are better then brand-new sport car!!! What a sound, what a quality!!! Just like the good old days when music funs appreciated a real music, real stereo and real equipment. Since I'm not very good with technical terminology I'll skip it but these speakers simply don't need it, they are just great. Never listen anything better.
Summary: Upgraded from Klipsch floor speakers Cir 1997. It was time. These are great. I feel like I am finally hearing all the music. I hear mostly rock and it the price point of $800 for both they are excellent. These speakers are powerful and can take whatever you want to drive them with I have a 140 per channel yamaha system and have not gotten close to full volume but get wall shaking sound. The nuances between the instruments and the stereo field is broad.
