Excerpt: I use these speakers in my Yamaha based system to listen to SACD's in multichannel as well as DVD-Audio discs. I also enjoy them when playing my Oppo 103 blu ray player. The DTS HD audio sounds fantastic.
Pros: Distortion Free, Excellent sound, Great Bass
Excerpt: I've owned a smaller set of JBL's for my living room for several years. Love them. So when it came time to replace my 15 year old Cerwin Vega's that were part of my "Man Cave" home theatre, I thought, why not JBL's again. Only hooked them up a few days ago. But so far, they sound great. Super price, fast delivery, what more can you ask for!
Summary: These speakers are by far the best sounding speakers I gave ever purchased especially at the price I got them for! I have them pair up with a JBL ES250 12" sub woofer and the sound is amazing! When I watch movies in stereo mode the sound feels like it is in surround because the 890's really project the sound out into my living room and along with the sub the room feels like I brought a theater to my home.
Better than klipsch Reference series and Martin Logan Electromotion ESL

Summary: I replaced the Klipsch Kf28 fronts and C52Ii center with the Jbl 890 and LC2 center. What a difference in quality and presence of mids and highs, also the bass is immaculate, also I have two subwoofers Klipsch reference 12 and they are set to the minimum volume. JBL is definitely the best speakers for home theater . I had also the Martin Logan ESL as front speakers and they are far behind sound quality if compared to the JBL L890.
Don't worry about the titanium tweeter. The sound is natural and flat.

Summary: UPDATE: revised from 5 stars to 4 because the JBL ES90 offers almost the same sound for only $500. I bought ES90 as my computer speakers. Also, I noticed that all the JBL speakers I bought have poorer stereo imaging than Sony/Polk speakers. Poor stereo imaging means that sometimes you will hear sound from the left and sometimes from the right, instead of a "phantom" speaker in the center.
Excerpt: Had these for several weeks now; shipping at ground rate was 2 days! Shopped, researched, participated in many blogs before finalizing a purchase. Things to consider: Nothing beats listening to speakers live; this takes time and there are many speakers in this price point. Room layout is as important as the power needed to drive speakers of this scope, take time to place speakers and choose an amp wisely - an additional cost but part of an overall good system.
Summary: Waited for a month or so before adding this review. So far I am very pleased with the JBL L890s, using them for both music and home theater, excellent sound on both. Did quite a bit of research on comparable speakers in the $1,000-1,5000/pair range, including Polk, Mirage, Def Tech, and KEF.
Summary: I purchased a 2 JBL L-26 speakers in 1975 and have loved them ever since. Now they have been demoted as the surround speakers. The L890's blow me away. They rock the house. My friends and I are loving them. I highly recommend these speakers.
Summary: These are the standing speakers that contribute to the stunning sound I get from my home-theater set-up. The sound with a blu-ray disk is stunning. They are large, of course, but if you have the room, I recommend them highly.
