JBL L890 review : 4 way dual 8 inch floorstanding speaker
Electronics Made Easy
2 November 2010
Summary: Overall, if you are looking for a solid-performing floorstanding loudspeaker, then the veteran 4-way JBL L890 is definitely a choice to be considered. While it may give you substandard performance under a weak amplifier, as long as you have the proper equipment, then your experience will not be any less than audiophile.
Pros: Superior- faithfully reproduce audiophile-quality sounds, Powerful-features dual 8-Inch PolyPlas woofers, Precise- includes 1-inch titanium tweeter and ultra-frequency driver, Pricey- best value for sub-$1000 speakers, but still expensive
Cons: Huge- bulky size and weight may not be suitable for all spaces
Summary: Given the right electronics, the JBL Studio L890s
are solid speakers that will perform well for many music lovers and, I suspect, an even
greater number of home-theater enthusiasts. In fact, there is something charming about the
fact that a more affordable integrated amplifier is a better match with the L890s than
more expensive (and precise-sounding) separates.
