Summary: I Love love love these! I purchased 2 for my backyard and mounted under the eves of my house over the back porch, the sound from these speakers is the absolute best combination of clarity, output, bandwidth and price available, period. Jbl has really perfected this sector of the market in my opinion, if you compare one of these speakers to, say, a pair of bose 251 speakers, their is no comparison, jbl has a much better product. Of corse this is my opinion.
Summary: These sound great clear highs, perfect mid tones, and matching bass. Overall its a pretty balanced speaker. And all the great sound is housed in a hardshell case. That wont crack or chip. And a thick metal screen over the front protects the speakers from damage. These have the sound quality to be in a recording studio. And the durability to take anything a gig can throw at them.
Summary: This is my second pair of JBL Control 29's. I also own Control Now, Control 25t and Control 28's in my (overkill) outdoor home sound system. I'm driving them with Crown CTS rack amps. The Control 29's are truly amazing speakers. Far more impressive then anything else in the Control line of above average speakers. Accurate, deep and impactfull low end with a very clean and even top end. I can't say enough about the sound quality, durability and overall volume output.
Summary: I have had the opportunity to run pa systems from a single ev speaker with a 12" woofer and 1.4" compression horn to these same high end speakers backed by 6 15" peavey black widow bass bins with 3000 watts behind them. More recently i have been looking for a speaker to use outside to play music for block parties and outdoor events. I have been using a pair of jbl control 5 monitors and they sound great but I have been asking them to do more than they should.
Summary: Sold individually, street price new is $400+ per speaker (normally includes speaker w/front badge and invisiball hole NOT knocked out, all 10 mounting holes plugged with rubber grommets, invisiball assembly including plate, hex wrench, MTC-PC2 weatherproof cover w/four screws, generic contractor series manual and some mounting hardware to make the angled case flat to a bracket) and these things are well-built as such.
Summary: Before you purchase this speaker, you need to realize it's intended application. Unless you've seen this speaker in action, and prefer the sound, you'll probably be able to get "better sounding" consumer speakers for the same price. However, you won't find one that's as robust as this. These are used in many theme parks and commercial applications throughout the world.
Summary: This is an excellent speaker for inside or outside. New, the speaker is high priced at around $300 (per speaker) at JBL dealers. However, used on eBay, you would be able to find this at half price. These speakers have low enough frequency range (when powered with 200 watts or more--optimum is 300 watts per speaker) to eliminate the need for a subwoofer. Bass extension goes down to 42 Hz.
Excerpt: I installed the speaker on a high school softball field shooting over the spectators and onto the field so the players can hear their music and such. The C29AV sounds excellent, even 225 feet away in the outfield. It is directional enough to protect what's to the sides. Although it is rated for 300w, I'm using a 200w Samson S63 and the C29AV distorts the low end a little at full power. Mounting is simple and effective.
Pros: Attractive Design, Compact, Durable, Easy To Connect, Great Sound Quality, Powerful
